Posted - 28 Feb 2011 : 4:51:02 PM Hi All, Had a busy few weeks and havent had chance to pop online, hope all is well with everyone and their 'heards!' Took Mr T to his first indoor showjumping lesson on Thursday with yard owner and her horse too - hoping to have pictures sent to me soon so will post them when they arrive. He was a really good boy, much more relaxed and calm now hes getting into the swing of things and is starting to really enjoy himself!
Anyway, we were on a high about how well things had gone when we walked out into the warm up arena to cool off. Then out of nowhere some pillock student of the college let off an industrial grass strimmer about 4 meters away from us totally out the blue causing both horses (bare in mind Tao is only 4) to rear and shoot forward in panic, YO managed to jump off her horse after calming her down, I however was stuck on a panick stricken Mr T jumping around. I looked over to see the guy switch off the strimmer and politely shouted for him to please wait a minute whilst I got off, to which he smirked, put his earphones back on then switched the strimmer back on again!!!! Resulting in me having to fling myself off a very upset Tao by this point. Poor little man. To which I shouted it would be nice of the 'agricultural student who should know better to give us some &*^%$£ notice!!!
Im all for desensitizing my horses to noises and spookey things but a warning or at least a plan to do so is always nice so we could have dealt with it calmly and worked through it. It could have been very dangerous. I know Tao will get over it but I was so upset that his confidence has been ruined that day by some stupid twerp and I spent the next half an hour trying to get him to walk calmly past things he wouldnt normally bother about but by this point were terrifying him.
Apart from that incident all in all a fantastic day and at least Ill be prepared for strimmers next time lol!
On another note, I just wanted to introduce the new addition to my 'animal clan' Here is Pepper my 5 month olf JRT I got last Sunday. She is the most wonderful little dog and had a pretty awful start to life so I am pleased we have found each other :-)

Posted - 28 Feb 2011 : 4:59:37 PM So unfair for you and your horse! I think you should complain to the College, the way you have written this post, in a nice polite way As for Pepper,
