My friend has an Arab gelding named Tarn. He is a lovely boy, known by me since birth (literally). He doesn't do any hard work but is a fair-weather "happy hacker". A couple of years ago he had a "silly" accident in the field but has subsequently been worked.

Anyway, he has some problems now which may/may not be related to an accident(s). He has routine back/teeth care etc. My friend has had an equine Vet out to him numerous times and he has also had thermal imaging, followed by x-rays (inconclusive) and is currently having a 14-day Bute test. However, he is still exhibiting pain behaviour when being touched in certain areas; the Vet feels these may be learned responses and he may not be in pain.

My friend is (naturally) at the end of her tether and wants to get to the root of the problem. I know that several people on AL have used "whisperers" to good effect. If anyone knows of someone who may be able to help, would they please p.m. me.

Obviously I have been deliberately vague about the accident/physical/behavioural problems as I don't want anyone picking up cues from my post.

Thanks in advance,
Caryn

Firstly Pashon thank you - he is rather gorgeous.

Had Ann Dee this week I was and in a way still am rather skeptical.

She did hit on that when I got him he was alone - 3 friend's and a family member (his mum) had all suddenly one by one gone until he was alone and he was scared and didn't understand why. In fact when I bought him, his then owner, had been thrown off the yard by her OH who had a new lady who was bringing her own horses and the soon to be ex had to get rid of her's asap!

The other thing she hit on was that when Rushka losses it - there is nothing at all I can do to get through to him, which is correct a few times out hacking always in the middle of the moors he suddenly spooks, then thats it he can back up, buck, spin, scream and nothing will calm him. My instructor(male - no fear) rode him across the moor for me to see if he was getting negative vibes from me - no he said Rushka is genuinely scared, of what, no idea. Ann Dee said although it makes no sense, in Rushka's head this goes back to the insecurities of been alone and scared. As he is 17 this year it is deeply embedded she has given me homeopathic treatments and I have to phone her in 2 weeks to say how we are doing.

Ann also said he has heard people saying they don't like him - none araby types - they just don't understand him. She said he is scared because I may take notice of them and sell him - something I have threaten to do a few times over the years, normally after bad falls or trips to hospital!! After 15 years together not a chance.

I would have thought she would have picked up on his problem feet (had a rotated pedal bone due to trama 5 years ago) or cushings he was not well last year due to onset of cushings. The one thing though that p****d me off was when she sent a text telling me the names of the tablets amounts etc and she referred to Rushka as a "she".

I'm really on the fence - will see how the tablets go - maybe they will work and great if they do. But don't think I'll be paying for services again.

Isobel is near Borehamwood, and hopefully Bellingon, if I can afford it, in April....

Good luck for your friend and her horse. I will be interested to hear how the horse whispering goes.

I am having a whisperer on March 7th who has come highly recommended, Anne Dee, she has a website. She does it over the phone I can't get in my head how it works but the horse she deal with has been great ever since! I will let you know how we get on.
