Our MP has invited us ( those who wrote to him) to a meeting later in the week.

I understand that an expert panel will be appointed by the Government to look at the forest. They will meet in the Autumn.

But its not over yet, a new look could just develope into what they really wanted anyway..they might leave riders out...like they do and include more routes for cyclists and walker.. and put more hard routes down..faster for the bikers.

Many of these MP's have no contact or interest in horses: I bet they will pick the best folks to do the job...

Although it was early days it appears that public access would have been guaranteed, but in practise (given the example of woodland sold off by them last autumn), that meant you could walk in them, but the car parks and picnic area weren't protected (ie in that case they were closed off), and no guaranteed access to cyclists and riders. In my experience (all the woodland around us is privately owned), access is increasingly restricted, particularly to riders, we have far less hacking than we used to, and we have to pay to ride in a quarter of the area that we used in the seventies. Private owners rarely welcome the public onto their property, which is why I signed the petition and wrote to my MP - it doesn't benefit me directly, but it would be a huge loss to everyone if the Government had been allowed to continue.

As I understood it the sale would have included a codicile that access would be guaranteed and facilities maintained .
Equestrian pursuits employs more people in UK than any other sport I believe and therefore is potentially a driver towards more jobs in future .It is not just about happy hacking
support services etc such as enhanced bridlepaths ,fencing, drainage, liveryservices, training, forest management and so on create jobs
The whole thing was badly publicised and half baked but I do see a great potential for management companies to make things better
Business investors want a return so it would not make sense to degrade the use of the foresrs .

I am no expert in politics and I am sorry to put a dampener on things but I still think they are going to carry on "looking" at this .....I think it may be a reprieve for now, but we will still have to keep our wits about us and keep an eye on them!!

Great news well done to everyone who signed the petition, was such a stupid idea in the first place.

Good News. Thankfully they saw sense in this.

Delamere Forest still open to walkers, Ramblers, riders and whatever takes your fancy

Such a relief - as long as it is a complete U-turn...
