Thank you - I love photoshop, it's the favourite part of my job. Unfortunately I don't have photoshop at home, so can only play during my lunchbreak

Lynda I said the people that had the colts were lucky, obviously that was the wrong thing to have said .

Did I mention anything about luck ??
Delyth Posted - 06 Feb 2011 : 09:28:01 AM
To have an Al Rayyan horse has nothing to do with luck believe me !! I didn't want to show Bedawi there is no point. What does a show ring prove ?? Al Rayyan don't show there horses and have the most superior collection of SE's we will ever see. I've seen nothing to equal it and Ashhal Al Rayyan will go down in history for changing the direction of SE breeding.

Here's one I made earlier...well about 6 months earlier, I edited it for a friend of mine (she won't mind me showing you). I've improved alot since then.

I used the cloning tool to copy the grass, trees etc. Unfortunately I made one big mistake...I forgot to take out the reins in his shadow!

(this is the beautiful Ben, 25 years young, anglo arab)

The other fun thing to do, which is easy is to go to filter gallery and just play with the filters. You can make a picture looks like a painting etc.
LYNDILOU Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 9:07:08 PM
Thanks , but I am a long way from doing any of that yet !

Your horses are gorgeous!

I work at a children's publishing company, so do quite a bit of picture-manipulation (though they tend to be illustrations). I am completley self-taught and I quite often have to help my boss out now. So keep at it, pratice makes perfect!

My two favourite tools (well three) are the cloning tool (looks like a rubber stamp.) If you press the 'alt' button on your keyboard and then click another area of the picture, then the tool will copy the bit where you pressed alt. It is perfect for getting rid of blemishes etc. Alongside this tool is the 'healing spot tool' which is kind of a softer version of the clone tool and copies the texture of the area.

The other tool, which gets a bit of getting used to is the 'pen tool' - Instead of using the wand...or the manually selection tools, you can use the pen to cut around the object (you can delete and add bits). Then you go to the 'paths' tab...next to the layers tab and click the little bit that looks like three lines and then go make selection. Then you can invert the selection and then press delete! I think i've probably made it sound more complicated than it is.

I hope it helps!

As I said I was repeating what someone said to me, it was his assumption! I agree there have been some lovely SE stallions here but apart from Imperial kamill I haven't seen many others out in the show ring, or advertised at stud for a long time, so perhaps this person could be forgiven if he thought there were not many here? Like you Delyth I saw Ashaal Al Rayyan (sp) in Qatar , and was absolutely blown away by him. I have been knocked sideways by the beauty of SE horses all over the world, so it would be nice to see a few more of them here.
jaj Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 4:42:08 PM
There are only 3 Al Rayyan colts in the UK aren't there Delyth? Lucky lucky people!
Delyth Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 4:25:13 PM
There are still plenty here and if not the horses themselves they have produced sons to continue the line. My point is we have never had a poor selection of SE's. We do things with quality not quantity !!
Personally I spent four long years coaxing a colt from Al Rayyan and I know it took Dame Josephine many, many years before she found the horse to carry on from Kerim Shah.
jaj Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 4:19:59 PM
Mahmoud Shah at Malthouse is fabulous

jaj Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 4:04:38 PM
A lot of those stallions whilst fabulous are no longer here though (either dead or abroad) unfortunately

Delyth Posted - 05 Feb 2011 : 3:49:55 PM
Poor in Se's are you serious !!!

We've had some of the breeds most influential Straight Egyptians in the UK. Everyone feel free to add to the list !! We've had Ansata Nile Pasha, Crusader (SE), Shaikh Al Kuran, Simeon Sadik, Orashaan, Maysoun, Ansata El Salaam, Assad, GR Amaretto, RA Relaks, Kerim Shah, Imperial Kamill, NK Hafid Jamil, Ansata Qasim, Ansata Najib Bey, Muhaned Al Rayyan, Bedawi Al Rayyan, Muharib Al Rayyan......We are only a small group who specialize in breeding these exquistie horses. We perhaps don't promote the way some do but believe me we have some of the worlds finest bred SE's here on our little island !!
LYNDILOU Posted - 04 Feb 2011 : 2:13:54 PM
finally got it this is NOT easy folks ! btw anyone seen my colt? last seen running around the pyramids of Giza
LYNDILOU Posted - 04 Feb 2011 : 2:11:42 PM
yes I would be very interested to see the malthouse new boy
SueB Posted - 04 Feb 2011 : 1:09:02 PM

I too want to almost start again with the next generation and feel armed with the knowledge I've gleaned over the years the path is very clear to me now!! just I haven't got enough bloody years left on the clock

ps. Before I get a smacked leg, don't forget Malthouse Stud who have S/E Arabs. You see them at a show and suddenly they bring out a jaw droppingly beautiful horse, you ask where did that come from?
Again hidden Gems.
LYNDILOU Posted - 04 Feb 2011 : 12:00:59 PM
it may be a long path also Sue! , time I dont have unfortunately .
I wish I was just starting out and be about 36. I would have loved to breed SE.
There is a lady in Texas who I went to visit a couple of years back who sold ALL her Spanish bloodlines and bought SE with the view to breeding them, trouble is she didnt really have knowledge of the SE only that she liked them, consequently she had a beautiful stallion with an awful back and she was turning these out by the dozen!, all the pictures I have seen of her babies show the same fault !
