Posted - 23 Jan 2011 : 7:04:27 PM hi all, i'm planning to put up a post and rail fence to split some ground up, trouble is i don't know how high the fence should be. i'm thinking of two rails or would that not be enough? any advice would be very helpful - thanks in advance. nic

Posted - 24 Jan 2011 : 10:38:34 PM hello all, thanks for the replies. i have my arab girl, who is 14.2, an 8 month old mini shetland filly who is knee-high to a grasshopper at the moment(!) and a 12.2 welshie and a not-sure-how-many-hh shetland gelding to keep in. the boys and girls are separate so i think the boys will be ok with a lower fence of two rails plus electric to make sure they stay put - the shetland is a big horse in a little body and a cotortionist who is a dab hand at fence destruction!! - while the girls will have a 4 ft fence with 3 rails. i hope i won't need to zap any of their fence but we'll see. sweet pea, (sp), my filly has already learned how to switch the fence off if she can get near the battery! thanks again to you all nic x

Posted - 23 Jan 2011 : 7:24:31 PM I'd probably go by the size of the horses, but would imagine two rails would do it? When I moved into my field it had been fenced for TB's (albeit not post and rail, post and electric rope. I had to go round the entire 1km perimeter and drop both lines when Inka started doing the limbo
