I used to work as a stable girl for Dr June many many years ago and always wonder if any of the horses i worked with are still going and what they are doing now. A few that spring to mind Doosti (my alltime fave girl), Joli, Johar, Latifah, Galaxy - i even used to excersise Scindy, but she was getting on back then so im sure shes gone on to a better place by now!
Might anyone know how the girls are doing?
Thanks Eve

Yes Dr June was very patient, and taught me so much - im really greatful for the experiences i got through her.

Thanks Kirsty, i looked at your pics, Marzookah is beautiful and congrats on all your successes!

Keren your name is familar to me, im pretty sure i must have met you at some point, i wish my memory was a little sharper :) Its great you have so many 'relatives', and yes Dr Junes thoughtful breeding is much appreciated. Backyard breeders are a pet peeve of mine. Dr June produced quality.

I miss Dr June very much and was on AHS Council with her for several years. She was such a gracious, kind and wise lady and is sadly missed by all her friends.

Dr June was one of the most friendliest and helpful people you could ever wish to meet. I was introduced to her through a mutual friend and she was so gracious and interesting to listen to.
A lady sadly missed by everyone and an enormous loss to the AHS

Wow, didnt expect such a response! Its good to hear there are some relatives of those gorgeous girls around! Would love to see pics. I dont remember a whole lot, i was 12/13 then and im 33 now, had more 'things' happen with the cobs than the arabs hehe! I loved being at Appledene though, Dr June was a locum for my own GP and id asked her, aged 10 or 11, if i could help with the horses and shed said i was a bit young, but to ask when i was older. so when i was 12 i wrote to her and she let me work on sundays for a couple of years. I used to bike there from Hessle I learned so much! I felt so important leading the bouncy arabs down the road to the other turnout haha! Also remember making the bran mashes in winter and the smell. Its funny which things stick in your mind!

What a wonderfull story..i like it..xxx that would be something i would have done,,infact i suppose i did do similar all for the love of horses...

HI Patriot,
Dr June was a lovely and very gracious lady and I do miss her.
There are some pictures of Marzookah on my website if you care to take a peek. Marzookah thrilled Dr June by competing at Horse of the year show in 2002, a real accolade for her thoughtful breeding.

Galaxy, Scindy and Latifah are no longer with us, but I have Latifah's granddaughter and great-grandson, and *their* son (a black), as well as Johar's son Roupert (half brother to Marzookah) and Joli's daughter Jamana, as mentioned above.

You may remember me - I had Latifah's daughter Lutfiya, whom I lost in 2008 at the age of nearly 31. Dr June was like my 2nd Mum and I spent many happy days with her at Appledene as well as at shows. I have very limited resources, but I am trying to keep June's lines going as she bred some very good quality stock that as well as being genuine all-rounders have the most superb temperament - proper Arabs that I hope the Bedouin would still recognise as such!

I used to own Joli from 2000 -2003 and sold her to a friend. Sadly she died in 2007 4 months after weaning her last foal, which was mine. She came and stayed with me for a week to wean the filly and it was so nice to have her back for a short time. I still saw her regularly and was very sad when she died. I bred a colt from her in 2003 and she went on and had three others for my friend.

She was a really lovely mare and was brilliant to ride, so well schooled that you could look good on her even bareback Dr June was very helpful to me when I rang to find out about Joli's history. She wrote me a lovely letter and sent some photos of Johar and Johar's daughter Marzookah.

I would love to hear any stories about Joli or Johar from what you remember of them

Joli is in my sig pics with the foal that I owned the others are her daughter Jamana that is now owned by AL's MinHe.

So sad to hear about June Alexander. Knew her from showing days years ago. A very unusual and up-front lady. One of the few...... Rose Ennik
