Recently been having troubles with my horse Zariah Bint H Tobago, my 2 year old chestnut filly. I was having a few troubles not being strong enough physically or mentally for her. I felt I could not handle her, she is such a kind natured horse, beautiful and extremely well mannered thanks to Natalie, the women I bought her from at stables, who is a member on here (Natntaz) who brought Zariah up extremely well and I hope to carry on in the same footsteps and carry on in the same manner and then in the future get out too some ridden shows I was just scared as she is moody over her stable, I let fear overcome me. But I am pleased to say, so far we are doing really well, building a stronger bond as days go on, and I am a lot more confident. We recently worked on our lunging and were getting really good but as the bad weather came we have not been doing so much. I am pleased I am off school so i can spend more time with her, but will not be happy when I go back as I do not have as much time to spend with my lovely horsey!

Ask Rui to help you with pics - he got through to me during my last tantrum, which took some doing!

Ciara,
Hello, I own an 18 month old half-brother to your girlie. Alkara Cassino (known as Chips) is by H Tobago x Rose Aboud and he's in my signature pics and my avatar. I've owned him from weaning and love him to bits.

If Zariah is anything like her little brother she'll be beautiful, kind, gentle, sweet and loving and very bold!

Have lots of fun with her.

Thankyou so much, this is my first horse, previous ponies have been loaned but it's not heat I really wanted. Since I saw the way the arabs moved and the nature of them, and when people had told me stories and about them I fell in love with them. I love zar to pieces and she is so beautiful and wellmannered, I hope to stay with her for all the years to come and go and enjoy each other and have some fun!
Thanks for what you've written numbbum I agree with you completely.

Ciara All the advice you have been given here is so wonderful but I'd like to add,
please persevere with your filly, you obviously have a strong bond already and as others have said you are both so young it will be a wonderful adventure as you both grow and learn together.
I was sixteen when my dream colt arrived and on our first day together he tried to kick me through the stable wall! Not a good start as you can imagine. I'd grown up with all types of horses, stallion and colts included, and never encountered any with his hateful temperament before, but I was in love with him from the moment I saw him and although it took two years we eventually had a sound, loving and respectful relationship. Although there were times when I wanted to never see him again! I still miss him now although he passed on many years ago.
Good luck for the future.

Sounds like you have a wonderful friendship with your young lady. And whatever happens, whatever highs, whatever lows (and there will be plenty of both) remember that the friendship is what really matters.

When you've had a horrid day at school, go and cuddle her and she'll understand and make you feel good again.

When you've had a brilliant day, go and share it with her and she'll make your happiness even more special.

There is no greater love than that between a (young) person and an Arabian horse. You are setting a yard stick that you will measure all future relationships against (human, canine feline and equestrian).

Have terrific fun and looking forward to hearing of all your news.

And don't beat yourself up too much - the main thing is that you love one another. Learn together, the bond will grow and grow and grow.

Thank you Ciara, you are both young but i know
you will be fine. Just believe in your capability
and always be firm but fair and she will
repay you by trusting you. You know i am always
there to help 24/7 x

Unfortunatly they all seem a little miserable at
the moment Boo is a monster at the moment
and Tariq is like victor meldrue as you know he
is so good normally. Think they are all fed up
with not having the sweet grass of the summer and
getting wet or cold. Hey ho spring is just around
the corner

One of the joys of youngsters is the learning curve - for them and us!! Like children they have to test the boundaries
zariahspong Posted - 01 Jan 2011 : 7:15:02 PM
Thankyou. Yes I like having the free time to pamper my horse and work her in the daylight.

Welcome to AL. Yes, it's annoying when you have to go back on the treadmill when you just want to play ponies all day
