Has anyone had this done to their horse?

Shesky has to start a course of 3 treatments tomorrow and I am panicking a bit about it! I'm not going to be there so just looking for reassurance really that it's not that bad and he will survive! He will be sedated for it as it's his first one.

Please keep your fingers crossed for him - he has been sent a little Angel which i'm going to hang up to watch over him! I'm not at all superstitious but will try anything!

The mare I had before Arabi had shock wave for her back, she only needed two treatments she was sedated during the process but only because they couldn't get her in the treatment room so she stood like a rock.

Yes sadly when the vet reassed him last Friday he was still 1/10 lame so did an Ultra Sound and he has a lesion Poor little boy!!!

LOL he LOVED having the Ultra Sound though and stood like a rock for the 30mins or so it took to get the right pictures - he even had a look at them and felt quite the star when others came in to take a look as well! He is being an excellent patient and enjoying all the extra cuddles from everyone... think he enjoys being poor little Shetland Shesky

Thanks guys, that's good to hear! Been searching on t'internet but can't find much about his injury which makes sense... he likes to be individual!

Any recommendatiosn for good trunout boots which will protect the back of the leg but not heat it up or rub?

My mums warmblood mare had a course of three treatments over last winter as she had done some damage to her hind tendon, it looked quite bowed and now (touch wood) it looks straight and she is back competing in dressage. She had to be sedated for the sessions just because it is quite loud and can be a shock when they first turn the machine on, but she was fine with it and stood for all her treatments. It's not invasive at all just a hand held machine that they put against the area that needs the treatment and sends a shockwave through the leg. It is great and I'm very pleased that we did it for our mare as she has come back better and she's 19. I'm sure your boy will be fine.

Hebe had it when he was diagnosed with a suspensory ligament (right hind). It went very well and he has gone back to endurance since his treatment.
