Chelle was out indoor showjumping again on Rosie. Michelle is struggling a little bit with nerves at the moment after having a bad fall last month where Rosie fell and came on top of her - understandable really after what happened.
We've dropped her down a class size to up her confidence again. So they went in the 75 cm class and had a refusal at the first fence then went clear.
Went into the 85 cm class and they went clear. We listened to the order of the jump off and they couldn't have had a worse draw. 8 through to the jump off and Chelle was drawn first!
I told Chelle to ride how how she thinked - shes been competing on her now for a season so knows what shes capable of. What do you do - aim for a steady clear and hope others have faults or go for it at the risk of a knockdown?
The jumps were put up to 95 cm.
As soon as I saw her ride in the ring I knew she meant business!! OMG I could hardly watch. She went like a bat out of hell & got turns that I didn't think were possible!!Where on earth that came from I don't know!!! You could even hear the commentator gasping over the loud speaker
Clear!!!
Then we had to watch the other 7 jump off. No-one went clear & everyone still had slower times than Chelle.
That's my girl!!!! Another win for Team Smith.
Rosie at home sporting her red tartan rosette:
Had a relaxing evening at home, then about 9.15 pm had a phone call. My son and his girlfriend, who is 5 months pregnant had been in a car crash!
She was rushed to hospital about 20 miles away, and thank God they were all ok. Really puts your life into perspective? How fragile life is. |

Posted - 16 Nov 2010 : 6:13:30 PM Oh Rosie - what a nightmare.
Glad things are ok and the baby is safe.
Must admit though, whenever we have a good day at competitions, I always hold my breath when we get home because for every high, there's a very deep low!!! I think I'm finally getting used to gritting my teeth.
Think it's called "being a horse owning parent" |
