Posted - 09 Nov 2010 : 7:05:22 PM I have just bought a used Rambo Wug off the well-known auction site and it has no leg straps. The seller claims it did not have any, but there appear to be the remains of attachment points for leg straps inside the rug. Have I been 'done'?? Info please!

Keren, as we are on the subject (see Tea&Coffee Time) it's not against the forum rules to write Ebay. Rui |

Posted - 11 Nov 2010 : 08:54:39 AM Wugs are Simply The Best (IMHO) Fatty Crabbet Bomb is out in his 17year old one and is snug and warm in the howling winds and torrential rain of the last two days (bonus - torrential rain has washed mud off produced by his mammoth rolls in the field) and Thin Elegant Aragon is out in another 17yr old one WugPlus (both washed and re-proofed many times) and is also snug and dry when he comes in. I just love Rambo rugs - wish they weren't £200+ to buy now or I'd have a half dozen more for both! |

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 6:15:36 PM I had the canvas ones years ago i remember they had an eylet at the back on mine and you used to push the legstrap end through it, was quite sharp as well wouldnt dream of using it now, and when they were wet and heavy they weighed a ton and went stiff. |

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 5:55:20 PM I must say I too prefer leg straps on rugs to stop them blowing up, and have never had any problems with them - back in the days of canvas NZs *everything* came with leg straps as standard, no cross surcingles except on very cheap items that wouldn't self-right otherwise

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 5:43:51 PM Mrs Vlacq im with you on the legstraps, i have some Rambo and Rhino rugs and have had them blow over their heads, i always make sure they are not loose and hanging, having my fields in Northumberland means we get some awful weather and the legstraps help keep the rugs in place in the wind. Before anybody says it yes my rugs were the correct size, although i do find the Amigo range quite a snug fit and would now always buy the next size up, i bought one 3 weeks ago for my yearling and her bum is starting to hang out of it bless her, on the bright side it has not blown over her head and in the last few weeks we have had some howling gales. |

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 09:02:11 AM Nope!! I have every make by Horseware and none of them have leg straps on.
They dont slip either for some strange reason in the field if they roll in the rugs.

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 08:35:54 AM Mrs V, you just need to make sure the fillet string is very short and the rug will stay put. Havinf said that, I have had the fillet string attachment break and the same thing happen.
I have all Rambo/Fal Pro rugs and neither of those makes have leg straps. I hate leg straps as I have heard of too many accidents with them and a definite "No No" for mares with foals.

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 12:12:43 AM lol - up here where the wind blows we need legstraps - seen many a turnout blown clean over the neddies head leaving a bewildered looking naked horse!! ( ETA especially those with skinny docks..... and the fact that ours seem to remove their tailflaps in the woods ) |

Posted - 09 Nov 2010 : 7:41:09 PM NO, Horsewear rugs don't have any legs straps.
Good thing as I HATE leg straps and always cut them off if I can. (Tip, if you save the leg straps they make great replacement fillet strings, like a buy one, get one free!!) |
