Posted - 08 Nov 2010 : 12:28:20 AM Went to an Arabian horse show on the weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. I had been considering using imported semen for my mare but when I caught sight of this 21yr old stallion all those plans were dropped. This pict taken with the owners permission captures him standing relaxed prior to his class . the angle isn't the best , but he is not long in the back . Your comments please.

Posted - 08 Nov 2010 : 09:11:56 AM He has a very famous full sister named Joda Abela, recently deceased. The picture doesn't do him justice but the aisle was too narrow for my camera to capture him without distortion. He stands 15.1 to 15.2hh is very well balanced with strong loins and a long ,level croup. good legs and length of neck. I didn't ask them to place him side on because there was a lot of movement up and down the aisle and the people were still preparing him. He looked as is standing relaxed- no teasing etc |

Posted - 08 Nov 2010 : 08:52:16 AM The point I'm making is that these gems appear right under your nose, at a time when others are saying "you have to think outside the box". He didn't win his class, being given 2nd place to a horse with contracted heels and pigeon toes.Which makes me wonder what these judges are looking for because in the 3yr old colt class the winner moved like a hackney pony, was noticeably short legged, long and dippy in the back and was so calf kneed it was noticeable from the stands. So much for the saying " Cream always rise to the top". Unfortunately it's not so any more as milk is pasteurised and homogenized, and comes in skim, low fat, fat free ,with added calcium etc.
