I love the thought of trying these two together because they have a lot of similarities...the risks would be there can be a lot of white markings and I think they come through the shared dam lines BUT the result could be a truly elegant and equisite foal.
Gotta tell you, Mrs. DJ, I'd love to see your girl not only with Akhira BUT with several others as well like Derivatiw Gwyddian (sp?), Tobago, and of the wonderful Om El lines avaiable in the UK, Charismma, ...Your Zeyrha would be such fun to own!
So, to all you breeders out there ( or anyone else, for that matter ), with a bit of time on their hands - if you were to choose one of the stallions that Egbert suggested, which one would it be, and why??

If people are talking about you it's because you've either done something tremendous or done something dreadful, either way everyone will forget it in a few weeks time anyway so why worry

Posted - 11 Nov 2010 : 10:37:03 AM I'm trying hard not to sound like the Lyndilou appreciation society! but Crimbo has and passes on the sweetest temperaments ever and if you just want a happy hacker friend for life, then this is a direction you should consider. I have a Crimbo mare here and she is on a pedestal I'm afraid she can do no wrong because she does no wrong. I have holiday makers nextdoor and often they wander in the stables and pet the horses. They always go straight for Lynda's bred mare Wizzy, and she loves all the fuss going. Even kids can climb on her door and still she licks them.
Also if you look at stallions that have excelled under saddle they normally have very good temperaments. They have to allow all that goes with being ridden.

Temperament wise, I would be more than happy for it to be just like it's Mum - I adore her. She's clever, so easy to handle, and solid as a rock to ride. Bought her as a two year old, backed her myself, and she's never been a minutes trouble (apart from not travelling well, but, that's another story, and something that can be worked on). Doesn't bite, kick, buck or rear. She's the one everyone wants to use as a nanny for their difficult/nervous/spooky neddys when hacking out!! I'm making her sound boring, but she's definitely not Height wise - I'm only 5'2", so at 14.3 she's plenty big enough for me. So, I don't really know what else I should be looking for.
LOL. I've just read this back. Looks like I want a carbon copy of Zeyrha!!
No, amend that. I would like one that didn't get fat on fresh air!
Edited to add - conformation wise, I don't have the knowledge to assess properly. I know what I like the look of, but that doesn't mean it's well conformed!

Posted - 10 Nov 2010 : 1:07:41 PM It's great to hypothesize about breeding and choosing a stallion based on pedigree merit is often where the best horses come from, but if you want to keep the foal for you, then you have to consider the most important factor in choosing a stallion...temperament. Also consider what you want the foal for, riding, in-hand showing etc and move to look at those stallions that produce the type of offspring you would like to breed.
I have had people who want a pretty show arab but forgot that to get something for the in hand showring the offspring more likely will have to be 'hot' Then they breed a lovely foal which they can't cope with, it gets sold and on and on we go. I think breeding is all about what you want from the foal first then start looking at stallions who might fill the criteria required for your future foal either pedigree wise and/or conformation wise. You can always go back and see if any of Egberts stallions she mentioned fit into what you wish to do with the resulting foal you hope to breed.
Sounds long post to mesorry. All JMO here, but often if you are dreaming this could become reality soon!

My personal choice for the stallions mentioned by Egbert would be H Tobago, I'm a sucker for chestnuts (shouldn't influence you I know), he seems to produce very nice foals from a variety of mares / breeds, plus I like the fact he is over 50% Crabbet, so your any resulting foal from your mare would still qualify for Crabbet classes !

If I recall right, Egbert said Zeyrha traced to Bint Helwa, a Saglawi Jedran, so, is that why she thought they would be a good match??
Don't know if Charismma would be too impressed by a chunky orange lady though!

Wish there was more info on my boys ancestors, and the personality traits...fascinating stuff.

Charismma is Saglawi in type and is prepotent in that he stamps this desert type to his offspring, there are many pictures of him , edited as I have added two

All the boys mentioned are lovely, but, I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, and I wouldn't even know where to start evaluating strengths and weaknesses in pedigrees and bloodlines, or what one would bring to another etc . I understand that a good pedigree doesn't always mean a good horse, it's a lot more involved than that.
I would really like to know more, but trawling through the Tail female thread, I fear that I couldn't absorb all that info in a million years!!!!! Don't know how Egbert remembers all that stuff, it's amazing!
Just out of interest, what did you mean about Charismma being the type my mare would need? Can you explain? (Please ). That's if you don't mind, and have the time, of course
All hypothetical, of course - I'm still waiting for that lottery win!
