Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 08:21:04 AM Anyone had any experience with these turnout rugs? Just been looking on their website and on the face of it they seem good value....
Am looking for a heavy weight turnout with integrated neck for my boy, he fits the Weatherbeeta well but am not too impressed with the quality as they are easily torn (and he's not even too much of a vandal!)
Any suggestions as to a substantial, warm turnout please, as he's fully clipped out.
Thanks, Sarah

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 10:50:11 PM I'm now a PE convert after years of only buying rambo/rhino rugs but the rambo ones are just too expensive now and the rhino ones rip too easily.
I now have the PE trio, and 2 PE HW turnouts stormbusters plus a fleece cooler. The HW ones are £130 and equivalent to the rambo so half their price.
They have a very hardy outer, I have no rips in mine whatsover, they are deeper than the rambos as well and no silly 3rd surcingle. The front has adjustable clips plus a good overlap with velco. The neck comes off or on easily and I have had no problems with it.
The are quite heavy but I use mine in the stable as well (why put a cold rug on when he is already toastie warm?!) so it only comes off to ride.
Would definitely recommend and I will not be going back to horseware rugs. |

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 3:37:13 PM I have a couple of lightweight PE rugs and love them but last year I bought a Winter Buster with detachable neck and was very dissapointed with it. The first time on, one of the front fasteners broke and I had to get it repaired, (PE did send me a couple of spare clips but they would not repair or replace it). I also found it quite combersome for putting on. I much prefer Horseware Rugs finding the Rhino Wug with the 1/2 neck seems to fit arabs quite well. I don't really rate the Amigo's. I also like Masta rugs and have bought one to replace the PE one for one of my horses. I like the way the neck covers fasten on these. |

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 3:12:39 PM Thanks for this....thats one vote for the PE rugs then, any more?
Have just seen the new Horseware optimo, looked fab in the shop but not sure can justify £250 for a rug! |

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 09:15:34 AM LOVE LOVE LOVE my Premier Equine Rugs
Was previously Bucas or Rambo only... had a moonlight flit with Amigos a couple of years ago (and never again - poor quality IMO)... tried Shesky in a Fal Pro last year - he wore it once and once was more than enough - never again!!! Soo bit the bullet and tried PE and we haven't looked back since!
IMO they are fantastic quality for the money - I brought Shesky the 450g Buster Turnout with Intergrated Neck and 450g Buster Stable Rug with Intergrated Neck - clipped him on Jan 5th just before all the snow and they are the only rugs he wore all through the snow and cold and ice and he was snug as a bug! His mane didn't get rubbed out and his coat was gleeming and shiny!
After that I brought Pasha the Medium Weight which he is currently in and when their Bucas and Rambos need replacing they will be replaced with PE |

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 09:09:57 AM I always use FalPro or Rambo rugs. I love the Rambo Duo's as they have detachable linings so you can vary the weight for the seasons or if you have a mucky horse you can buy a spare lining so that you can wash the under rug. Also, at the end of the year you can put them in the washing machine, saves on laundry costs.

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 08:50:00 AM p.s meant to add my friend had a premier equine t out which had a detachable neck she never had any problems with it and it looked good value for money if i remember rightly the neck used to attach to the main part of the rug with a big really thick velcro band which never came apart dont know what it would be like on arab manes though as my friends horse was a tb x id ........will stop rambling now lol |

Posted - 02 Nov 2010 : 08:47:12 AM for arabs i love the amigo rugs i think they fit really nicely the only thing i think personally is that they come up a bit on the small side so i always have next size up from usual size when ordering also i think their weights can be not so generous on the ones ive used anyway but i do really love them and through the winter months when your fingers are numb having clips is brill would never go back to buckles again lol |
