We moved yards this weekend and Kirstie had to stay in for 24hrs after worming before going out with all of the other mares. Nice big bed and two big nets to keep her busy, my friend works there so text me at 12:30 last night to let me know she checked on her on the way back from the pub. Got down about 9 this morning to play with her until it was time for her to go out and she was a bit stressed as everyone else was being turned out and she had to stay in. Everyone there was commenting on how chilled she was even though to me she seemed stressed and upset. She settled down after realising I wasn't leaving her and when the time came to turn out she was excellent just wandered round.
I can breathe again,I was so worried something would go wrong. I really have the best horse for me, she is everything I could ask for and more.
Please someone redirect me to this post in about 6 months when we are backing her.

know how you feel, when i got my filly a month ago she had to stay in 2 weeks!!!! much to my horror, the lady at the yard decided she didnt trust her horses with a baby  i also held my breath whilst trying to find somewhere else asap im supprised i didnt pass out  . two weeks of holding my breath was not nice, as she was new to me and just weaned, every day i was expecting her to be very stressed and hypo, but she was as calm and cool the a cucumber. even when we had to load her for the second time she was fine and calm and arrived at the new stables she was very laid back, she seems to have a sensible head or her shoulders. i hope she stays this well balanced

Lol Julia! Shesky was the same when I brought him but he didn't lose his halo until about 6 months after I got him - then the full-on opinionated stroppy toad came out... and I love him even more for it 
Mary I am so glad your girl is being calm and rational about things - they all take a while to settle in and I agree, I think we take it harder and stress more than they do! It's only becasue we care x |

She sounds like a big star.
I moved mine about six weeks ago and for 5 weeks he was eerily well behaved, no shouting or jumping up and down and lots of comments about how calm he is 'for an arab'. I was quite upset, sure he was just depressed about leaving his old friends. Anyway last weeek he magically turned back into noisy opinionated Spider, I am so relieved but the nice comments on how chilled he is seem to have melted away.... |

awwww bless you mary i hate moving horses like you i hold my breath till its all done and sorted then phewwwwwww lol im so glad the move went well and she has settled so nicely im sure all will go well when it comes to backing her as she sounds like she draws comfort and confidence from you already exciting times ahead mary |
