Not an Arab I am afraid, but I know Arab owners can have these problems.

My youngster has a short back and a forward girth groove and I have tried my 5 (treeless) saddles on her and only 2 seem to sit in the girth groove, one is a western, but I'm not keen on the solid pommel, and the other being my mothers Sensation saddle, I really like the Sensation and used to have one for my gelding but had some issues with stirrup rings bruising my legs.
My other 3 saddles are Torsions, and the girth straps are way too far back for my girl, if I girth them up the saddle sits half way up her neck, so I am selling my Torsion Close Contact saddle to fund a new one for her.
I would like to stay treeless, does anyone have any recommendations on brands that would be likely to fit a short back, a very forward girth groove and my size 12 bum?

I love my Farringtons Dressage Saddle. I have a very very short backed arab with a forward girth groove. I've done up to 88km in a day on it.It fits him and me beautifully. I don't ache at all after riding him ever.

Free and easy saddle without doubt will solve both horse and rider problems

14h arab, short back, and forward girth groove - V girth system on a FnE working very well and incredibly comfortable saddle.

Have tried treed and treeless and def find treed better on her and more comfortable for me.

Trouble is so much to try in way of saddles....

I'm not sure treeless is the way to go at all with a short coupled neddy

I love my Farringtons - they were made to fit my short-backed Arab at no extra cost (OK, some years ago...).

You DEFINATELY need a WOW then! Its like sitting in a big comfy chesterfield sofa I defy anyone to get a sore bum in a WOW!!

I am a bit "old fashioned" I suppose in the belief that one saddle cant fit all horses

Thanks for the replies :)

Unfortunately I can't ride in treed saddles anymore, I get bruises on my seatbones after a couple of mins, even when using a seatsaver (I have HM ones and sheepskin), and if I can't catch one horse I tend to ride another and use the same saddle, so treeless is very handy for me

I am selling my Torsion for around £400 (if it ever sells), so could possibly stretch to around £600 if I sell my soul or my body (although I'm not sure anyone would want either!)

I have a very short coupled welsh x tb, who also has a fairly forward girth groove. Tried loads of saddles, ended up with a Bates VSD (leather). It's a 16.5" I'm 5'7" and with a size 10 backside and it fits both of us fine. You are also able to adjust the treesize, which I found very handy as he was still growing when I finally found something I could ride him in. It cost £800.

I know it's not a treeless solution, but I was very relieved to find something that the pair of us were comfortable in (bareback not really being an option with his very spectacular buck!)

WoW saddle and "H" girth hs worked wonderfully well for Ryazan. He is now much more comfortable and everything stays where it ought to be. He has exactly the same conformational "challenges" as your youngster. Violently expensive bits of kit £>1700 saddle and £140 H girth (made for each horse to order both items) but very effective and worth every hard earned pound IMHO.
