naturally. remember that song? thats the tune that kept going through my head tonight , he looked so lost in the field without mouse, dont tell me horses do not grieve .
Charismma will still have Midgit to go out with later , but at the moment I am keeping her off the grass for fear she may be getting laminitic as well! our grass has gone very lush !

Poor boy! Milly still, after 18 months seems to be missing her brother. I put his rug on her the other day and she went into a daydream. I know how she feels as I still miss him dreadfully. It amazes me how they grieve and how the others look after them.

So sorry to hear about Mouse Lynda . Sorry I've had my arm operation and so been out of action and off line for ages.

Always makes me so sad when they lose a friend because we cant explain anything to them. Poor Crimbo.

They definitely do grieve but they are also very resilient and make new friends very easily.

RIP Mouse.

This is how he greeted me tonight, much perkier
you can see it in his eyes

Callisto Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 1:43:13 PM
Good to see that Midget perked him up, poor lad.
pinkvboots Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 09:29:32 AM
Bless him they do get very attached, Arabi went out on his own for ages but has a nice mare to keep him company now, she is really attached to him when I go riding she gets very upset but she is getting better as she knows we always come back.
Sjade sorry to hear about your Thoroughbred .
LYNDILOU Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 09:07:56 AM
aww thats very kind of you, and knowing your criteria for a mate he is flattered,

but I think he will be fine, I took this picture of him ( a bit blurred) last night when he saw Midgit , he has perked up a bit
TOOTHLESS Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 12:24:12 AM
Lindilou, Send him over to me for a holiday . He could keep my mare company and I'm sure there would be others that would like to use him. Also the $A has appreciated at least 60% against the British pound in the last 3 years. Attilio

I'm so sorry for your boy Lynda
avanti Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 07:13:54 AM
Poor boy, there is no doubt at all that they grieve, when we had grass sickness there was a deathly silence in the yard, nobody made a sound, about a month ago I had another mare PTS, she never really recovered from the grass sickness was just limping along, her sister and lifetime companion is greiving, our little shetland mare died a couple of weeks ago at the grand age of 33, we all miss her greatly, we have had so much death here in the last couple of years its hard to see any future but when I look at my healthy fat horses that remain I know there must be, I will post some pics of our shetland on another thread so as not to highjack Lynda's I really feel for all of you that have lost your lovely horses, xx

oliviaw Posted - 10 Oct 2010 : 10:28:16 PM
Yes horses definately grieve especially when they have been friends for a long time :( it has taken Tilly over 6 months to get better after losing misty! She was so depressed and not her self for ages and rejected many potential friends!
Hopefully he will feel a bit better when midgit goes out with him!

s.jade Posted - 10 Oct 2010 : 7:21:41 PM
Poor boy
They most certainly do grieve, we lost our TB last night, and my hot headed, very vocal 3yr old colt who lived next door to him has been silent and down all day today. They know Hugs to you and your boy xx
