With tears and a heavy heart i would like to pay tribute to one of the most special arabian boys i have known....Golden Sequin aka Sox.
This afternoon he was put to rest after suffering a kick to his shoulder, there was nothing that could be done and the decision was made by his wonderful loanee Fabiana to let him go.
Fabiana had Sox on loan from Armada Arabians for the last 3years and certainly done him proud. Those who went to the most recent South East Region show at Hickstead would of seen him winning the ridden Veteren class there......Fabiana's debut showing show with the old man and his 1st show at higher than local level for many many years.
I'm so gutted for her that he is gone as even at his mature age she had many plans for him and i would always be reading her reports about their fun and mishaps and jumping stories!
Sox taught so many people what an arab was all about, ok he was a real grumpy git in the stable but boy was he a good ride! Safe as houses but wouldnt suffer fools gladly! Gave me the confidence to compete at local level some 4 or 5years ago before Fabs took him on to bigger and better things.
The stories ive heard about Sox will stay in my memory forever, he will be missed by many including all of the Smith family, me, Tracey and Jody (his previous loaners) and most of all im sure by Fabiana who probably had the most fun a young girl can ever have on an arabian horse.
