Haha she's very odd

she's one of these show jumpers that thinks showing is easy ect ect

so yes she does lots of jumping but her horse has a very bad bum hahah, plus he is bum high and roached backed and she wanted to know what quarter marks to use when she shows him... although I don't think she's going to now as she can't be bothered to plait HAHA

But she thinks that road work is terrible and wont let her horses step one foot on the road... although yet she will jump them HUGE every day and I don't see how that is good for their legs personally... but we are all different haha!!!

I was taught the markings on the quarters were to accentuate the conformation of the horse/pony and not the amount of weight or muscle. The positioning of the quarter marks depend on whether you want to higher or lower the look of where the tail's set on. The finish of the shark's teeth then either widens or narrows the width of the quarters.

Hope the above makes sense!

Is she won't put in the work then she doesn't deserve a big gorgeous bum Luckily for me, both my boys are blessed with large rear ends lol!

I was going to say Jess, Tiger didn't look like he needed a bigger bumwhy wont she try the strapping and hills? would she do some pole work? all our turnout fields are on steep hills and this has definitely made a difference to Arabi as he had a weak back end but since he has been out 24-7 it has improved.

Tiger has a hoooge bum... it's for a friend not me HAHA

thanks I suggested strapping and road work trotting up big hills but she refuses to do both HAHA

Quarter marks can make a poor backside look worse. Suggest you do the strapping as Pinkyboots describes and hill work.Sharks teeth are applied down near the stifle, the chequered type are best put on high on the quarters, either straight in line with the backbone or diagonally. Experiment with the size and angle of the squares and make sure the coat is very clean, flat with no loose hair.

A bit of old fashioned strapping worked wonders for all the horses I have tried it on, If you don't have a strapping pad a leather backed brush will work, start of gently with 20 each side, then slowly increase each time I am up to about 70 each side at the moment, I was also told by my physio to do pole work in trot as this will help build up his back end.

Hill work is good for big bums lol!

Sorry hun, but a good judge will spot a skinny bottom whatever pattern you put on it. The only way to improve it is to 'beef up' his bum the usual way... with work!
