Posted - 19 Aug 2010 : 9:02:19 PM After breeding and showining Morgans for several years, I recently tried endurance and came in to closer contact with Arabs. Impressed by their beauty and physical prowess and an ambition to take endurance more seriously, I very recently had the opportunity to have two older broodmares on permanent loan from the Harwood Stud. About three months ago, Caecilia, her then ten day old filly, Farrah and Caecilia's half sister Marceline came to join the Morgans. Right from the start they have fitted in and the Morgans adopted them. I've been really struck by how gentle, kind and intelligent they are besides how lovely to look at. I'm hoping that both mares are in foal to African Emir after his incredibly helpful owner Lynn brought him over for 'visits'. Anyway here they are should you like to see them. Cheers Pete a>

Posted - 04 Sep 2010 : 9:11:35 PM Thanks Saddlebred. I think whenever someone buys a horse they may as well sew thier pockets up because they certainly won't be used for keeping money in that's for sure.Still, I'd rather be skint with the horses than well off without! I hope your mare is soon in good health and you can make it to the shows; may even see you there. I'll be the skinny balding bloke with the bewildered expression.

Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 4:55:51 PM Hello and welcome Pete. There is hope. I've been living with a very bad case of Arabitis and Saddlebreditis with a heavy dose of Palominoitis to boot.
They are not life threatening conditions but they do hurt A LOT - mostly in the heart and the pocket.
I love Morgans - I have met a few Monnington and Landside Morgans over the years. Was hoping to get my Saddlebred to the UK-USA shows when (and if) she recovers from her recent surgery.
Your horses look lovely. Super pictures of mum and daughter running through the field. |

Posted - 27 Aug 2010 : 7:43:26 PM Thanks Babs, it's kind of reassuring to know we're all in the same [sinking?] boat and we can all go pleasantly potty [isn't that the end stage?] together. |

Posted - 27 Aug 2010 : 3:46:29 PM ....Methinks Pete is already way past the early stages...a severe case indeed, Morganitis and Arabitis is far too advanced for a cure to be effective
If it helps at all with your incurable condition, be consoled, you will find many likewise afflicted peeps on Arabian Lines only too willing to discuss their symptoms with you....group therapy
and what lovely horses you have

Posted - 20 Aug 2010 : 7:26:31 PM Welcome to AL. Your Arabs are stunning and so are your Morgans.
I nearly bought a Morgan the year before i bought my Arab. I put a deposit down and arranged the vetting and everything and then something told me to stick to my original dream and get an Arab.
The Morgan was a beautiful bay mare. But i think i did the right thing because i just love my boy to pieces... |

Posted - 20 Aug 2010 : 12:09:44 PM Hi and welcome - I have Harwood's Dulciya (Kasadi x Lusind) and my friend just up the road owns Chlione. I have alwsy loved Marceline... I knew they were putting them on loan but didn't know where they'd gone. Ladyluck - I didn't know you have Kirstie, another of my favourites who I would have bought given half the chance, I always wondered where she went. I have photo of her as a foal on my screen saver!! |

Posted - 20 Aug 2010 : 10:22:01 AM Hi Roseanne, I'm glad you liked the photos of the girls. The original Justin Morgan, to whom all Morgan trace back, was bred from the early proto-thoroughbreds that were taken to America by the early settlers. Therefore, they share the same Arab ancestry that modern thoroughbreds have. It doesn't take much to get a Morgan to snort and blow and carry it's tail high. They seem to share many of the traits of the Arabs. Cheers Pete |

Posted - 20 Aug 2010 : 09:59:00 AM Hi Pete, welcome to AL. Fabulous pictures. Harwood really does breed some super Arabs. My Mum got her colt from Monica Calvert way back in the 1960s!
We had a woman with Morgans at the Arabian stud where my horses were some years ago. They're a fabulous breed. She used to do Western on them. They soon got infected by the Arabs themselves and before long whenever there was a 'group gallop' their tails would be up like the Arabs! I wonder if yours will do the same? |

Posted - 20 Aug 2010 : 08:41:29 AM Hi and welcome to AL. You have some lovely horses. I almost bought a morab once many years ago (for endurance) but was beaten to it. I also have this years foal by Safraz who was by Kasadi. He's going to be a big boy so nice to hear the temprament is good. Endurance is a fantastic sport you will soon be well and truly hooked.
