dermisol needs no bandaging, but if you still prefer to bandage any melolin dressing as long as its not drawing out. And dermisol cream you just wash the wound pat it dry and apply a good layer its a thick white cream so it covers well. when gizzies stitches burst vet gave us this cream and told us not to bandage her leg no more and a week and it was nearly gone, used it on a yearling last year that had a huge wound to the top of his leg about 6 inches wide and three inches deep and all proud flesh, They tried bandaging it and he kept taking it off so they just put the dermisol cream on it and left un bandage, two weeks applying twice a day, he was back in the field healed and it left no scarring.

Honey Heal is available from the Derby House catalogue if that helps. The non adhesive pads can be bought from the wonderful auction site. Im lucky in that I pinch mine from work, ssshhhhh dont tell them

Thank you for all respond, keep posting as be great to try anything i can try on his wound to get it heal!

Have just ordered Dermisol gel to try first then try Honey heal if dermisol doesn't help as i have tried manuka honey but seems make it bit worse??

Have been using 15g furdierm up to now but have ordered dermisol gel at 100g so how much should i use 15g or 30g every time i change his banages 3 days?

Other thing when i'm using dermisol gel,i'm using allevyn non adhesive form pad as great for him but sadly very expensive at £10 a pad! wonder if any of you know where i can buy some lot cheaper? as i will change his banages every 3 days when start use dermisol gel.

Thank you again

I use green clay which I get from Leanne Wrentmore at Naturally Animals.I just dab it on dry and it forms a barrier against flies, keeps other dirt out but still allows it to breathe and draws out impurities. Apparently it is often used to treat wounds on elephants! I use it to make face packs for myself too! Very good on sunburnt noses.

Another vote for Honey heal. Great stuff. Very sticky, so i tend to covetr it with something for the first few days, and leaves a messy residue, but really does the business!
PM me if you can't find it and need the website address

Fuciderm has a steroid in it so healing will take longer, but it is ideal if there is proud flesh present. Aloa Vera or Manuka Honey type creams or ointments are great to help heal up a stubborn wound also remember to make sure you have a good fly repellent around the wound or that it's covered, you'd be amazed at the damage flys can do to a healing wound !

dermisol fantastic its designed to encourage fast healing, and grows skin, hair back in no time. Has been used on a huge variety of wounds and has done wonders in all situations from proud flesh, small wounds, puncture wounds, large area wounds, deep wounds. we have used, alo vera, dermigerm, dermagel, all sorts and nothing compares and extremly cheap in comparision.

There is a product called 'Honey Heal' available, if you google it you will get the website where you can buy it, I don't think it's available in many shops as yet.

We have used it on several different types of wound, including a nasty cut and it has done a good healing job on all of them. May be worth a look?

I have been using Gold Label Wonder gel on skin scrapes, ie bites/kicks from other horses and the fur grows back really quick, these are grazes though, i also have used it on a scar lump and it has definitely got smaller then the potential of not using from day one. Would recommend once wound has closed up. It's Aloe Vera base with some yummy essential oils, bottle lasts ages

I have seen the results on a young filly who had torn a patch of skin away but still attached ( like a rug tear, corner shaped) it healed up with minimal lumpiness and no hairloss or hair colour loss.It is also used on burns. A different type of wound I agree, perhaps someone else can advise further?

For fresh skin? as proud flesh have been cut off to make the skin flatter to let it healer easier.

Aloe Vera gel can be very helpful.
