BTW - I have many bay Arabians, so much so we thought of calling ourselves "Bays R Us" lol.
Can't post any pics at the moment, but you can see 3 or 4 of them in my sig.

Mental note - if your arab is a 'drinker of the wind' I would not recommend the one-ear-type headstall!!!! One mighty flick and I had bridle on the ground and my wild stallion stood next to me looking at it! |

Posted - 18 Jun 2010 : 6:06:12 PM I am sure everyone is sick of seeing her but her is Ballerina's half sister Venus who had just been covered when this picture was taken last year at Malvern , and the result is standing out in the field waiting to come in so I had better get moving

Posted - 18 Jun 2010 : 4:52:11 PM Hopefully this will work, but this is my darling mare 'Ballerina'- one of the most beautiful bays Ive ever seen - but i am bias! She is by Bambooki who was pictures previously and I feel very privileged to have his rare bloodlines.
and my yearling Mathilda by Om El Bahreyn, also a beautiful bay.

Posted - 16 Jun 2010 : 8:59:17 PM Some absolutely stunning horses appearing on this thread, too many to mention !
Well chestnut has always been my favourite colour, but the bays are creeping up there My ideal bay would be a light golden bay (like the colour 'Sham' - The Godolphin Arabian - was supposed to be )
Here are some of my bays
My Lady Anne (Hadaya Al Tareef / Fatima Sharaf)
Aja Bint Estasha (FS Bengali / Estasha Bint Masri) and her filly by Om El Mareikh
Estasha and baby again
ZAS Al Hadiyeh Ibn Chiya (WSA Charismma / Chiya)
Ali again |

Posted - 16 Jun 2010 : 5:35:25 PM Not forgetting my other bay part-bred, Aldwych Arabesque (Sunray Scelebrity/Llanarth Rosetta). Missed off previous post cos she wasn't on Flickr; she had a fabulous in hand career in AA/PBA, Part-bred Welsh, Hunter Pony Breeding, Hack and Riding Horse Breeding. I had to sell her due to pressure of work but she went on to two more successful showing homes. In the photo (the glossiest in my entire collection!) she is taking her first championship with me, back in 1998.

Posted - 16 Jun 2010 : 4:55:07 PM I had a little blarter at Mrs. Vlacq's photo of Ferozeshah, taken the same year that his beautiful and sadly missed daughter Vlacq Garnet was born. Like Dad, she was talented and versatile, winning in ridden, in hand and hunter pony breeding classes, Dressage to Music and Roads and Tracks. She was liver chestnut but because her mane and tail were black when she was younger she was sometimes taken for a bay at first glance.
A versatile bay part-bred, Vlacq Redwood Reflection, grandson of Shah Shadow and son of Vlacq Khazad and Vlacq Tathar (bay hunter mare). After dressage and showing in AA/PBA and Sports Horse classes he is bringing the Arab message to a new audience as a successful carriage horse, qualifying for the Osborne Refrigerators Championships at Towerlands at his first driving show and sweeping the board at BDS Area 37 last year.
Finally, Autumn Light (Marino Marini/Autumn Bride), the beautiful Anglo-Arab who started it all for me in 1987. Bred by Joanne Lowe, she was a grand-daughter of Mikeno and great-grand-daughter of the Derby winner Dante. Sadly she was only with me for 6 months before I lost her during surgery for a twisted gut but I learned such a lot from her, not least the joys of a good gallop! She was a real lady with a wonderful temperament and it was while looking for another Mikeno Anglo after I lost her that Garnet stuck her head over the school fence at Vlacq and said 'BUY ME!' The rest is history!
