TIGER WAS A.M.A.Z.I.N.G BEASTTTT!!!!

WHAT A FEEEEELINGGG!!!!

So took Tiger for xc for the 1st time this year, and he was MEGAAAA... All that sj practice I have done recently has DEFIANTLY paid off, he was SO bold, and really straight and accurate, although we had a couple of fliers but you gotta have some fliers xc HAHA!!!

Oh Oh and he went STRAIGHT in the water I was worried that he would freak as thats the usual at water on the ground, and last year had a bit of trouble!!! But this year didn't care HAHA!!!

Jumped some MEGA stuff, never dreamt I would ever jump with him!!! Biggest was 1.15 square wooden house, the skinny brush after the table was about 1m, and that beast hedge was 1.20, high and wide :O IT WAS HUDGEEEEEEE

He was even giving leads to 'proper' horses haha!!!

Haven't got many pictures, and they are all over the smaller stuff I jumped coz once I had warmed up dad refused to walk round the course so just let me get on with it, I was like ''I'm just gonna jump that hedge'' ''Oh no jess thats too big'' I canter off and Tiger pops it HAHAH!!!

So much to say HAHA but I wont bore you any longer!!!

Also here's my new video, it means alot to me, the lyrics I can relate to ALOT I had alot of 'non-araby' people saying he was 'no good' 'not sutiable' 'I wouldn't be able to control a crazy stallion' AND LOOK AT US NOWWWW!!!! GIVING YOU LEADS OVER SCARY XC FENCES :P HAHAH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COH7JW4wht8

Okay okay I'll stop yapping now!!! Picture timeeee

FLIERRRRRR :D

FANTASTIC, I love the look on Tiger's face. Not only a talented beastie but a handsome one too.

Fly the arab flag - both of you

Wow, watched the other video. I feel humble; but inspired.

Lovely pics and video, beautiful horse and what a great reward for all your obvious hard work - you are a fantastic combination

Well done Jess and Tiger, lovely pictures, so inspiring and proves to the non-doubters that Arabs cant jump. Go for it
Nichole Waller Posted - 07 Jun 2010 : 2:20:15 PM
Love your video, love your pictures and love your horse...! He looks amazing and it really shows what a wonderful partnership you have.

Keep up the good work

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! You have all made me smile so so much!!!

It has taken an extremely long to to get him to where he is, and it hasn't be easy ha ha!!! Been through SO much with this horse and I wouldn't want to be sitting on anything else <3 he's so so special to me!!!

He went through quite a big confidence knock last year at Malvern, where I fell on in the 90cm SJ, tbh he wasn't ready and I wasn't ready, I didn't want to let everyone down and went for it but our lack of experience and confidence just came through and it really did knock his confidence. I gave him about 3 months off from jumped and then introduced it back extremely slowly, and I mean slowly HAHA For both of us and this included weeks of just going over poles on the ground, and then building up tiny tiny jumps, no bigger than 1ft HAHA... and just trotting over them on a loose rein, and cantering over them slowly... and instead of building up I just kept it small and built his confidence but doing thing like lots of grid work, working on striding and adjusting it, and THIS is what has paid off... this is what helped the most as now I can alter striding easily!!!

It also helped as he went through the 'Flight' stage, where he would run as fast as he could after the jump, but after lots of grids and poles, and working out how he likes to be ridden, he has over come it amazingly, I tried strong bits but nothing helped it was just his lack of confidence and understanding!!! Luckily with him I have never had a problem with spooking, he is extremely bold.

We are now both confident and as you can see just enjoying it, as before it did get into a bit of a chore, especially as u don't feel you are getting any where going over tiny tiny jumps, but I now understand THAT is what makes them good and confident jumpers, not by scaring them and wacking great big fences infront of them and you to quickly. It is all about time and building up slowly, slowly so you don't even notice, and schooling is SO SO important, like before it is so easy to scare them by cantering up to a jump kicking away but u need to learn about striding and learning how to help ur horse, I don't like to take over too much but if I'm aiming for instance at a 1m skinny I need to know whether he will make it himself or whether I need to step in and just say 'woh, wait for another' or 'lengthen' otherwise confidence can be knocked again.

We are now happily jumping over courses of 1.10-1.15 but to me it's not about the height, it's about seeing his little face light up when I put his jumping saddle on his back, and the way when he sees me putting out a course in the field he walks over to the gate waiting to be ridden!!! He just LOVES it to pieces now, and gives him a well earned break from schooling and showing, he tries his little heart out in EVERYTHING and just seeing him so relaxed and happy cantering up to a jump just makes me so so happy!!!

I love reading all your comments they have all made me so so happy!! I adore this horse SO SO much, you all know that by now ha ha!! But I love the journey I have had with him so far and every morning I wake up I cannot wait until I ride him, I get so excited every day about riding him ha ha even if it's just a hack, I'm like a small kid at a riding school having their weekly lessons, I will NEVER get bored of riding him!!!

Sorry I have just babbled on about nothing haha!!! But it's so hard to put into words how much he means to me and how far we have come!!! It hasn't been easy but it has most defiantly been worth it!!!

Oh and my jumping saddle is a lovely 'Black Country Saddle' I got it second hand off a saddler, he just came out with a selection and thats the one that fitted HA HA!!! But I do love it has the most amazingly big knee rolls!!!

Fantastic pics, looks an absolutely fabulous boy and very brave to jump all of those so enthusiastically!

Can I be cheeky and ask what saddle are you in? My daughter would like to jump our arab but at the moment the only saddle that we have found which fits him and does not block his shoulder or cause bumps is a treeless dressage which does not lend itself to jumping.
Kash Posted - 06 Jun 2010 : 8:13:17 PM
I'm not jealous, I'm not jealous.... You both look fabulous - well done! Any more pics?

We had a new course of jumps arrive at our yard today and I just can't wait to get out there You've certainly inspired me

Just watched your journey video! Loved it! Yes, cried
justine Posted - 06 Jun 2010 : 3:59:59 PM
What a team! Brilliant!
Yes arabians can jump and do anything. I used to hunt a friends stallion Indian Banner, they all laughed saying I was riding a poodle! Who could beat them all through the plough and rough terain? My poodle! Hence they used him on hunter mares ha ha
See my ex stallion Jazzmeen, google - arabianstudeurope, he is amazing too!
alison Posted - 06 Jun 2010 : 1:30:14 PM
Wow you two look fantastic together, you are a brilliant rider and I'm so impressed by the way you have brought Tiger on. It's great to see all your hard work paying off, and I bet all your friends envy your beautiful Arab friend.

Beautiful Jess - I too just watched your journey video - truly wonderful to see the way you have grown together. Fabulous to see young talent riding Arabians too, as they have such ability but do not seem to be the breed of choice for young competitors. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of you two
alethea Posted - 06 Jun 2010 : 10:55:51 AM
You are both amazing

You should be very very proud. Fantastic to see arabs showing their true ability rather than just prancing round a showring looking pretty!
