I am getting quotes from all the transporters for the best price and the kindest transporter, can anyone recommend a good one, not too expensive as we have a tight budget to get our horses to UK from France, we don't want to just go for the cheapest, but the cheapest AND the best for our horses. Alot of transporters don't seem to be doing the International runs anymore |

We've had dealings with various transporters over the years and I would go along with egzotyka. Stuart delivered two unhandled yearlings to us on quite a long journey and they arrived in great condition and totally unfazed. (must admit I'd started to panic because he'd taken time to drive very carefully and my estimate of arrival time was a bit out).

I would def recomend Stuart Coombs of Eastworth Horse transport - we have used him a couple of times and he is very very good.

Would ditto Skye transport - they moved my boy from Portsmouth up to Derbyshire a few years ago and the service was second to none, my boy walked straight off the lorry with not a bead of sweat and onto his haynet, happy boy!....think Phillip also has arabs himself which can only be a good thing. |

Zapphire1, thats so terrible to read. It must be
heartbreaking to put your trust in these people
for them to let you down so very badly and more
importantly these poor horses.They obviously need
someone to make sure they are checked and watered
at regular intervals. There should be ways of knowing
whether this is done.We all know accidents happen
but when it neglect that just is not good enough.
I am with you in that if i couldnt take them myself
they wouldnt be going anywhere. I have a rule with
this in everything i do. I hold them for the farrier
i hold them for the vet and i travel them myself.
The only time i ever let anyone else do anything is
when i have a little holiday and that is just very
trusted friends who know how i do things.

NO NO NO trust knowone
jp company was the transporters of my pre mares and foals,from spain to uk the foals were all six months old and the breeder said it would be less stress on the them if after 2weeks or so that i weaned them my end
when the horses arrived i said to the driver we are putting them into a small paddock for a roll etc i said first i want to show them where the water trough is,a very red face driver tryed to argue that i should just let them loose as we started to lead the mares to the water trough we had to let go as they bolted to the water them selfs and drank and drank the driver with the big blue lovely lorry turned away still red face!! as i point out to him that they were very firsty !!
within 2 hours of him leaving us one of the foals was laying down and i just new i needed a vet the vet was quick on the scene,yes my worst fear was confirmed SHIPPING FEVER (lack of water)
within three hours things got worst that ended in tears she was to far gone and had to be put to sleep by this time i was in total shock !! i wasnt worried about the lost of money invested ,but the sadness that i had to tell her breeder!!!!!!! he couldnt understand it how can a very heathly six month foal that he took the time and trouble to teach them all to drink from a bucket,(die from this)and even more heart breaking was the little farwell the other pre`s gave her that we live with me forever (and something ive never seen before and pray never will again)
all the pre mares and 2 remaing foals formed a circle around her and first the head of the mares walk upto her sniff (like a kiss goodbye)next sec mare in charge then the poor mare who had lost her baby then the colt last her half sister all pre done the same thing then they seem to stay there for a few seconds and one by one walked away,and never looked back again THAT BROKE ME to tears and rage,
so please dont give anyone advice on who to trust as you cant trust anyone the ones that have used this compny are luckie because if you go to any other forums jp are slaged off for deep cuts lost of tails etc etc and so are many uk companies too,as ive always said its not a company its the drivers that are employed by companies and most people can only tell you what transporter they used be it jp and so on but not many could name the driver they had at the time with that company !! ive lost two horses to shipping fever one pre filly god bless you SIERRA MORENA importing from spain the other my homebred stallion that i had his dam and his gran dam that had to be put to sleep by a different company he was 14years old god bless you red sky warning TB and i would not wish this on anyone to go through it lives with you forever and ever SO MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WANTING TO KNOW WHO TO USE IN TRANSPORTING YOUR BABIES IS TRUST KNOWONE UNLESS YOU CAN TRAVEL WITH THEM!!
as far as i can see its luck of the draw

we used brookfields to move 30 horses from manchester to devon, stallons, mares and foals and youngsters, all arrived with hardly a bead of sweat and most had never travelled in their life before! they also moved our cats,dogs and chickens |

I used John Parkers they were really good the horse was tip top, the price all depends on where in the UK you are planning to re-locate to if it's the SE then John Parkers are from that area.

It has to be Parkers,We used them,4 or 5 time when we moved to Spain,For a long trip
you cant bet them,the horses had B&B in Paris and Madrid,they did better
that us !! |

John Parker without a doubt!!
They transported my PRE stallion from Spain and he arrived in tip top relaxed condition looking as though he had just popped out of his own stable instead of travelling three days from Spain,when he reached Dover he was rested overnight in their own stables and then came on to me in Wales,the transporter was palacial and the two chaps aboard were very calm quiet and professional AND it was considering the distance very reasonably priced .
So its John Parker for me every time |

My Dad.. Stuart Coombs- Eastworth Horse transport, is very experienced, insured etc, he drives my horses all over the country, weekly and I wouldn't want anyone else to move my horses. His number is 01202 822837. He is based in dorset. |

I've used John Parker in the past and they were excellent, they are based near the Kent coast, so they havnt got miles to travel to begin with |

potijk paarden transport from Holland, has routes all over Europe, and do shipping to US etc too.... great horse people, good lorries, and OK prices.
your horses, may have to change lorry in their stables in Holland though. |

I've always used Eric Gillie, can't praise them enough, even difficult travellers have arrived stress free. It was also considerably cheaper to transport my horses south than my furniture  . I know they are based in Kelso, but they do shared loads, and international deliveries (although it's possible they use a partner on the continent). They have a website. |
