Posted - 19 Apr 2010 : 8:38:16 PM Chips (now 10 1/2 months) and his two year old gelding companion, AV Scandalous, were turned out 24/7 in a lovely summer paddock yesterday. Neither had slept out before so, according to the YO, they charged up and down yesterday evening, yelling that they'd been abandoned and surely we'd heard there were horse-eating monsters around?! Anyway, they settled and were both seen sleeping flat out this morning - bless!
Anyway, that left Red Gauntlet, who had been in a paddock next to them all winter. He is good friends with his half-brother, my boy Roger (who has been stabled at the yard after a very nasty penetration a few weeks ago) so we turned them out on the youngsters' winter paddock. I had taken my camera to get some pictures of the youngsters but I had to rush back to get it to take pictures of the "old boys" who, I must say, looked spectacular! Red is 18 and retired with a tendon injury and Roger is 17, both by Prince Sadik.
I like the mirror-imaging on the first two pictures:

Your boys both carry the sabino gene so Rozy Rider would be glad to hear from you, I'm sure. |

Posted - 19 Apr 2010 : 8:54:16 PM They look in FINE fettle!!!! I had a similar moment mid last week - removed rugs from the 20+ gang, they all rushed about and my 22yo gelding went into protect mum mode and stood guard over me - then checked for space and audience and stonked off snorting, tail over his back, out-trotting the young'uns. Made me I think these older gentlemen are secretly quite vain about their little performances
So glad the bogey man didn't eat Chips and Scandalous |
