Posted - 17 Mar 2010 : 11:01:29 PM A Horses wish............
Could you bed me down with kindness, on the soft sweet words of love... Could you ride me in mans finest, with hands as light as a dove....
Could you teach me with old wisdom,by the laws of just and fair...
Could you be my friend forever, with trust so true and rare....
Could you meet me on the morrow with grasses green and sweet.....
Could you free me without sorrow on then plains of loam and wheat....
Could you say farewell with honor, on the day my life is through....
And remember me forever as i shall remember you....

Posted - 13 Mar 2010 : 07:53:45 AM On a magnet in my kitchen 'Born to ride, forced to cook.' On a pillow in my lounge 'A life without horses...I don't think so.' I'm still laughing at Nissibay's nuts and bolts!!! |

Posted - 13 Mar 2010 : 01:38:10 AM It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the horse bolts! |

Many people have sighed for the 'good old days' and regretted the 'passing of the horse,' but today, when only those who like horses own them, it is a far better time for horses |

Posted - 11 Mar 2010 : 10:02:18 PM I've just remembered another one:- The only way to become a millionaire with horses is to start off a billionaire. Too right! |

Posted - 11 Mar 2010 : 9:59:53 PM One of my favourites:- A pony is a childhood dream, a horse is an adult treasure. Rebecca Carroll. I have this in the front of my diary every year. I was 35 before my childhood dream became an adult reality so it means a lot.
One which became special after we lost Jim the Cob to colic:- Oh,that cob; that Irish cob!-may the sod lie lightly over the bones of the strongest, speediest and most gallant of its kind! George Borrow, Lavengro.
A while ago someone posted a beautiful poem called 'My Grandest Foal' which needs lots of tissues but says everything about losing a horse too soon.

Posted - 10 Mar 2010 : 11:59:52 AM This is a couple of verses written by an 8 year old to his pony. When first a mother bore you You knew that I was for you You knew I did adore you Dolly Grey. You knew not how you knew it Your eyes could not see through it But you knew it, ay, you knew it.
So, when we bothare dead and meet on further shore We'll start together fresh My Dolly GreyWe'll go roving, roving, roving, as we ever did before My Dolly Grey |

Posted - 09 Mar 2010 : 8:50:35 PM Sorry, and this one.
Somewhere Stanley Harrison
Somewhere in time's own space there must be some sweet pastured place where creeks sing on and tall trees grow, some paradise where horses go. For by the love that guides my pen, I know great horses live again. |

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, Friendship without envy, Or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is served with muscle And strength by gentleness confined He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent. There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient. England's past has been borne on his back. All our history is in his industry. We are his heirs, he our inheritance. |
