Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 9:55:29 PM been schooling gizzy for the last month now at the livery yard and at times shes felt like a real proper dressage horse, her walk and trot has improved loads as well as her balance and canter, and finding work so easy. Have been working on simple transitions and missing transitions, and is finding it so easy to go straight into the gait i ask off the strength of leg command. Half passing, leg yielding shoulder ins ect improving bending and flexion. She is getting better although still a little incosistant with her work, but shes only rising 6. well yesterday we were getting ready to go out a hack and as we were heading down the drive i felt gizzy was really underneath her self and putting alot of impulsion into her trot so i sat deep closed the hands, put my legs on strong and set the schooling stick on her rump and straight into a proper passage, was able to watch her in the conservatory windows. Then i closed the hands a little more and she stopped on the spot and did the pieffe.. I think she wants to be a grand prix dressage horse, i just have never had a horse that can execute so many advanced movements so easy and effortless. heres a couple of pics about 10 mins into her last schooling session

Posted - 09 Mar 2010 : 2:05:59 PM yeah she is comming on really nice. xsara also is showing promise with the flat work if she just wasn't so stroppy lol. Though gizzy's dam was very talented at the dressage but never did get too far as she had an injury as a yearling and she has never tracked up fully on her hind left leg. Hence why she bred 3 beautiful girls. But she is alright for riding club and little work but nothing too advanced.

Mine seems able to turn his hoof to some beautiful advanced dressage moves but only when out hacking and wound up by something
