Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 10:23:26 AM I had a lesson on Shesky on Saturday and he was superlicious Then yesterday, we went for a hack in the freezing cold and we trotted most of the way and had a bit of a blast up a little hill First time we've cantered out on a hack since last May (long story) and it certainly blew the cobwebs away - he sprung back into the yard on his toes, barely warm
I also spent ages both days grooming Pasha as he is moulting like a Yeti and told him all my woes - he is such a good listener

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 7:16:13 PM Lovely, lovely weather. So cold, but as long as it's not wet or snowing i couldn't care less! Saturday worked, went to a kids party (with kids, not on my own!) and usual horsey stuff (mucking out and bandaging poorly legs mostly). Sunday cooked a curry and a friend came over. we had a family walk with my 3 year old daughter riding mary our welsh mountain pony, and daisy riding raf (15 year old arab). Daisy's feet don't come past the saddle flaps, and she looks so funny, but so, so proud perched on top. obviously raf was an absolute gentleman and looked after his little charge. A lovely day (oh, and capped off with a good cry watching Grey's anatomy, lol!) Ros |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 3:26:08 PM Friday spent the day on the road delivering Romarnic reverie to her lovely new home. took 2 hrs to get there and four and a half to get back! Don't you just love the M25!!!
Saturday waved bye to stallion we have had on livery for three years. He has been sold to a new home to run with 150 mares!
Then packed up Ranger and Oscar in the horsebox and took them for training. Both doing very well. ranger has started his canter pirouettes.Woodsman was there with his new mum and looked a picture.
Sunday took delivery of new competition horse to replace missing stallion!!!
Took Amy and Oscar to dressage. They won the elementary qualifier overall again. So that's them qualified for the regionals. Medium nextNot bad to outings to wins overall. plus a nice write up in the Horse and Hound.
So a busy three days for us. Keeps us out of mischief

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 3:01:46 PM I did a similar thing last November and have not looked back We don't have a wash bay and solarium but YO says when Indoor School is re-done (imminent), there maybe room... keeping fingers firmly crossed! Don't know how I ever had time to muck-out now! |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 2:46:08 PM I moved my boy on Saturday from DIY livery at tumbledown farm steading with no facilities to full livery at gorgeous yard with new purpose built indoor and outdoor arenas, wash bay, solarium, turn out paddocks with post and rail etc i think i have died and gone to heaven i will now of course have to work harder to pay for it but at the end of the day think it's really good value for money... only thing is I now have no excuses for not improving my riding |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 2:05:21 PM Mitraz is a stunner!!! LOVE his colour!!!
I too cannot believe that to be honest! At the end of the day it's up to the owners to decide if the health of their pony or a red rosette is more important - know which one I would choose!
Wish we had somewhere like Ride-Away in the South East!!! I went to Frogpool but think i've already brought everything in the shop as couldn't find a thing to buy Did get some saddlesoap and a Horse magazine just to make the trip worthwhile |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 1:39:51 PM sec a 400kg and needs more weight !!!
i thought a few years back they were trying to get judges to come away from the fat is good thing !
i have not had time to show or even attend shows in the last few years due to not enough time with work and the rescue but obviously things have not changed enough

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 1:36:08 PM Very very rare to have a weekend with no work,( I think my next full weekend off will probably be about November!) so Saturday we went to Ride-Away! 3 pairs of new jodphurs for me & chelle plus other goodies ready for the season ahead. Then Sunday Rosie & chelle had their first trip to pony club.
Oh & got a call from my son to say he'd been to hospital!! Someone had tried to pick a fight with him at the local nightclub, so he'd hit him back, (& 2nd punch missed & got the wall!) broken a bone in his hand! Kids!!!! |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 1:15:33 PM Sorry Pasha no tips it was mainly telling us about the groundwork that has to be done at home to prepare for the ring. We did discuss the problems of weight in the ring and how the judges like to see the natives so fat, my friend breeds sec a ponies and her stallion is 400kg and she has been told he needs more weight just so unhealthy for these ponies |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 11:56:40 AM Saturday very cold but sunny rode with two friends on their very sensible cobs round one of our favourite rides and my very self-effacing little mare showed off! Didn't want to behind the big girls and putin a couple of jolly bucks and then jogged ahead being flash until she had to go across a large stretch of mud and one of the cobs had to give her a lead but she did go through other bits of mud and settled down on the way home. Turn out. Sunday big clean out of box roast dinner and then more stable work. Lovely to see the sun. |

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 11:30:43 AM Took our No. 1 boy (7 yr old stallion - VA Mitraz) to a local show to show him in-hand and just to remind him that not everywhere he goes is a race track!
He won the Open Class (10 horses), then took the Championship (20 horses), so we came home with 2 red rosettes, a red and cream sash and a little silver cup! He was the only Arab and made an awful lot of people change their view on our beloved breed!
It was a lovely weekend and not only did the win make it so, the sunshine also helped. Roll on summer.

Posted - 08 Mar 2010 : 11:23:21 AM went out in the Very Cold Windy Weather and felt Very Cold!!! However, took Ry up on the lower bit of the North Downs - too windy for the top bits -and tried to persuade him not to jog all the time - then -a huge female buzzard appeared (we have a couple of breeding pairs near us) and sailed around and then landed on a post just in front and stared hard at me and Mr Horse! Mr Horse suddently stopped jogging - averted his gaze and sedately walked past in a "I'm not here - I don't exist" sort of way, and then went round the corner out of sight of the buzzard and jogged for England! really funny! Later went out on the river in my neighbours's little fishing boat to have a look at an interesting new ship parked up outside Rochester - more Very Cold Windy Weather! (I should be used to it by now - lived on boats and barges for 20+ years - but this winter has been going on for ever, it seems and I'm getting a bit fed up with being cold all the time ---whinge whinge). Then more dog walking, horse care, and ditto the last two things on Sunday, interspersed by big cheese sandwiches and mugs of tea! |
