Posted - 04 Mar 2010 : 08:48:32 AM went to my local vet talk last night about wound management and when to call the vet, lots of very graphic pictures the most interesting one was a race horse who got away from his handler galloped off to then stand on lead rein with back foot and cut his tongue in half with a chifney bit vet stitched it back together and it went on to still race!! gross huh

Posted - 04 Mar 2010 : 10:16:58 AM I know of a mare on a yard I know that had its cheek cut upwards from where the mouth joins (like a cheese wire) cos the electric wire along the posts hadn't been switched on for ages and they didn't realise it was there. Think the mare tried nibbling and got the wire in; vet stitched it and a fairly tidy scar remained but not nice thought at all!!
