Posted - 18 Feb 2010 : 10:30:38 PM I bet I won't be able to work out how to post some pics but never mind.......
I bought Borris (Om El Mareikh x Lusinda - harwood bred)in october as my first pure bred. I have not had a horse for 20 years, and then only on loan, so he is a very special horse for me - i hope he will my one and only forever horse. I hope to back him slowly, and have made a great start with parelli level 1. He is responsive, steady, loving and intelligent. Lots of folk on here say his sire passes on a great temperament and I can vouch for that.
I fell in love with him at first sight when I saw his pic on the horse and hound for sale sight. I wasn't planning on buying a horse but he was my dream, and it is all working great. I had to move him from a horrid yard to a great field on Wed. SO in the freezing fog, with ice on the ground, I walked him to his new home. Over an hours walk, thankfully mostly on tracks, and he was perfect.
Looking forward to finding out about all his brothers and sisters out there - where they are and what they are doing. Debs
any idea on how to post a pic.......

This 2nd image is the one from horse and hound that i 1st saw him on. Will post more recent ones soon |

Posted - 20 Feb 2010 : 11:09:47 AM Welcome to ALines; I am sure you will soon as big an Arab nut as the rest of us on here. Borris is a lovely boy and nicely bred. I had my old gelding, the first horse I ever owned, for 29 and a half years, I lost him last March at almost 32. I hope you have as many happy years with Borris.
Best wishes.

Posted - 19 Feb 2010 : 5:08:32 PM I am blown away by the welcome on this site I am so glad that you think Boz is as handsome as I do, and it is facinating to find out his history and breeding. I knew none of this when I bought him. I relied on my gut instinct (and a vetting!)
I hope to do some inhand and ridden showing, and possible try some endurance one day. But my main priority is to enjoy the already fabulous relationship we have. I am really enjoying the parelli - my kids think its fab that i can back him to the end of his 12' line by wagging one finger at him!
So my aim for this summer is to have been on his back, and ridden him at least in the field. But I have not decided whether to stick with the parelli halter and then introduce the bit when I have ridden him, or to do both. He had a bit in for 2 mins the other day, as I was messing trying to see what size he would be. He wasn't bothered, just wondered what this thing was and stuck his tongue out a lot! |

Posted - 19 Feb 2010 : 4:44:44 PM Welcome Debs. Borris looks lovely and good to hear that he has brains as well as beauty. That was amazing for a young horse to be such a good boy. Another Debs |

Posted - 19 Feb 2010 : 4:33:28 PM Welcome Debs ! Your boy looks lovely, would love to see some more pics of him
You may already know that he has a very famous half brother called Darcy, who has won loads in hand - there are pics on this site somewhere.
I'm very lucky that his Daddy Om El Mareikh is standing with a good friend, less than half a mile down the road from me. Needless to say, I have a mare expecting a Mareikh baby in June
If you look on New Arrivals, Debbie Alderson has Mareikhs latest baby pics on there, a lovely chestnut filly.
Enjoy your boy, and this site Debs - there's always plenty to learn on here |

OOOOOhhhh. can you mail me a copy of that pic. Georgie said she would send me some but I can't wait to see. Be nice is you have any pics of his mum too.
I will no doubt be asking lots of dumb questions over the next years. Things have changed a lot in my break from having horses. rugs, feed - everything has moved on and up, so you guys will have to put up with lots of questions. And I have not had one this young before which will also mean more questions.
He is coping really well in his new field. He is on his own for 2 weeks until my friends aged horse moves on, but has company over the wall in the next field. I can't wait to see him out without rugs and sit in the field and watch him move.
He will be 3 on Monday!Carrot cake???????
Oh and we think he is about 15hh-15.1hh. Not measured him yet........can't believe had him so long and not got round to it! |

Posted - 19 Feb 2010 : 11:17:22 AM Hi Debs, welcome to Arabian Lines.
Boris looks super and what a good boy for taking that walk to his new home in his stride. That would have been a bit of a challenge for any youngster who hasn't been out and about much. How old is he and how high?
I'm sure you're going to have some fantastic fun with him - and here on AL. It's a very supportive site with some great and very knowledgeable people.
What do you plan to do with Boris riding wise?
My sister and I have both found that we've got much more out of our horses, riding, training and competing having gone back to horses after our 'marriage/children/working' breaks.
Good to have you here! |
