Posted - 18 Feb 2010 : 8:11:12 PM I had my first foal in October...yes late I know...but I used the wetherbeeta dog rugs to start with. It fit lovely and slipped over his head and fastened underneath. I would definitely recommend them. |

Posted - 18 Feb 2010 : 7:54:00 PM My smallest proper horse rug is 1'6 - complete with weeny tail flap! If you google miniature horse rugs you'll find some tiny turnouts - they tend to go from 1'9 up and are often cheaper than dog rugs :) |

Posted - 18 Feb 2010 : 7:10:14 PM Dog rugs are great for newborns (Masta and Wetherbeeta do them) - but I think they are measured differently, wither to tail, rather than chest to tail if that makes sense. If you want to turn out in them you will need to stitch on proper fastenings as most are velcro and foals work it out so quickly!
Shires do a foal rug (over the head) and a tiny-miniature rug (buckles) in their turnout fabric. Used both quite happily
Marie - our newborns tend to go into 24" or 26" dog rugs, but they outgrow them in days! |

Posted - 18 Feb 2010 : 4:49:48 PM Hi, expecting a foal mid April, and would like to have a rain sheet for newborn just in case it is chucking it down. What size would you get for a newborn arab foal? Mum is 14h3 - 15h.
