Posted - 03 Feb 2010 : 1:27:01 PM Just caught the tail-end of a programme on Polish Arabians on Horse and Country TV (Sky channel 279 - "Horse Babies") Think they might be repeating it at 7.00pm.
Would love to hear about people's polish arabs and what you think are so special about them. |

Can't tell you how much more fleabitten Lance is.
There was me offering to put people's pictures up and I can't do it myself now or I'd try to put one up! More and more Lance's head reminds me of Lalique's.

Posted - 14 Feb 2010 : 10:56:01 PM Thank you Rosanne Otto is a very special boy. His proper name is Czarovitch http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/czarovitch
He has the beginnings of a flea bitten coat but as he is only rising 5 he still has a lot of dapples. His sire Czarus is very flea bitten (looks almost chestnut at times there are so many!) , but his dam was almost completely white with only a few very large "flea bites".
I know Galeon has sired a lot of excellent race progeny but it's good to hear he has sired quality endurance stock too. I chose Ottos particular breeding because it is definitely heavy on the performance side, which is exactly what I hope he will excel at fingers crossed.

Posted - 14 Feb 2010 : 9:26:54 PM He looks lovely Otto; so typically Polish I think. Is he quite heavily fleabitten? (What's his name?)
Not sure what has happened to Galeon but a friend of mine here has a son of Galeon who has competed well in endurance and won the AHS Marathon once. Good performance lines! |

Posted - 12 Feb 2010 : 02:47:41 AM Hi My 8 year old mare out of a pure polish Probat daughter, by Ffatal Attraction. Ffatal has a lot of polish on his dams side, but not sure how much. But she is at least 50++% polish

Posted - 11 Feb 2010 : 5:34:38 PM I've got to vouch for Erald too. He lived here one winter and has the most incredible temperament he made Ffatal look crazy !! Hagunia was still alive then and she was allowed to roam the yard. You'd often see her at Eralds door and the two of them grooming each other - he is a saint :) |

Posted - 08 Feb 2010 : 09:53:02 AM The Polish arabian appears to trace back about 150 years before the Blunts importations so one wonders where they bought them from . Looking at the general stamp of the horses in old photos they seem to be very much like the horses of Halsdon.Refined greys with clean throats and high tail carraige . Do you think that the early imports came from the closed interior and this accounts for A) the constantcy of type and B)the successful progeny today who are the result of breeding back to these lines When I look at the photo of Rosanna the Skowroneck daughter sold to Kellog and her descendant of 80 years Lalique there is a stiling likeness . Lance is also of that stamp. Look at the Laheeb stock with Polish . Could be out of a Harrington painting . Likewise with Erald and Kwestura , they are classic images from old paintings .Both with brilliant legs by the way! Maybe genetic doors open up from the past when one makes the right cross . Such an interesting subject Well done for this thread . |

Posted - 06 Feb 2010 : 8:42:12 PM I'm so glad I asked about polish arabians! Hearing about the ones you all own and seeing the stunning pictures has been very inspirational. I am looking for a new horse at the moment, and finding one with a healthy dash of "polish" in them sounds like it would be a definite bonus, (although I suspect all arabs carry alot of the same attributes ). Everyone on AL certainly seems to love theirs, whatever the breeding! |
