Posted - 16 Jan 2010 : 11:24:22 PM I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Chris Breach, who died in Spain on December 7th. Her son, Ken, called me when he found my phone number in Chris's diary after her belongings had been shipped to him in France on Wednesday 13th Jan. She joins her husband and soul mate Pete Breach who passed away almost 5 years ago.
I don't know how many of you knew Chris and Pete before they moved to Spain, some 20 or so years ago - they had great success with a lot of their Arabian stock, most of their home-bred foals being exported to Europe and Australia. They may best be remembered for their wonderful liver chestnut Stallion Magnifico (Mikeno/Magnindra), whom they bought as a foal and kept all of his life.
May they both now rest in peace. They will be sadly missed.

Posted - 15 Nov 2011 : 6:55:53 PM Ahh that is sad news, it's all because of Meko that I fell in love with Arabian horses, I lived in Crawley in the 80's and was out riding with a friend one day when we came across a few riders approaching us and in the lead, bouncing along with his tail touching his ears was Magnifico. I was captivated and through a lady that I knew, that knew Chris got an invite to go see all the horses at home. That wasit I was hooked. Sid was stunning too but he scared the pants off me! My friend bred some stunning Anglo's from Chris's stallions out of her thoroughbred mare Estina, one particulat Jimmini Cricket was champion every time shown from memory. RIP Chris, they don't make them like that anymore...Class act! |

Posted - 15 Nov 2011 : 01:24:25 AM Wow - that is so great to get this so quickly. I really really appreciate this. He is something special in my life this horse. He started me back on the road to horses and a career which is still a huge part of my life - although a different tack than I expected. I will remember him always and Chris and Pete who were so kind to me. Thank you.
I am guessing you might possibly be Chris's daughter? - if so thank you big time for this and I know your parents live on in loads of people's memories - they were very special people. They also live on as well as in the blood lines of so many horses.

Posted - 13 Nov 2011 : 6:53:09 PM RIP Chris Breach. Magnifico was fabulous. When I first got into Arabs I saw a son of his, Prince Irexico being ridden at a show. I can still picture him now and it must be nearly 30 years ago.
That is a lovely tribute Chris W.

Posted - 13 Nov 2011 : 2:39:42 PM I did not know Chris and Pete personally but as breeders using Mikeno and Grojec lines they have my respect as people of obvious great taste and my sympathy goes to their family. |

Posted - 13 Nov 2011 : 2:21:22 PM I have just joined this forum and have just seen this thread. I rode out for Chris just a few times in 1974/5 and once or twice was on Meko. I am so sad that both Chris and Pete are gone. They did some great work with those lines. I remember Pete lying in the field with one of the stallions they had at the time - I think it was a Magic stallion. I will always remember them and lovely Meko - he was a very special horse that one. Wish I had a photo of him. If anyone has one I really would love it. |

Posted - 17 Jan 2010 : 8:25:18 PM I am sad to read this too. Chris and Pete also helped me to get started into Arabs and I had many happy days at Ambassadors Stud seeing their lovely stock and the magnificant "Magnifico". R.I.P. Di. |

Posted - 17 Jan 2010 : 6:44:38 PM The Arabian World has lost a truely fabulous woman one I shall never forget , and my time with her and Pete at the Ambassadors Arabian Stud in Sussex I will forever treasure . Christine Breach was a second mother to me and my wife when we moved to live in Crawley late 70's early 80's . I just can't believe it , my only hope is that Chris did not die alone. I spoke to Chris in November and she was full of spirit even though 2009 was such a bad year for me and my family she always had the knack of cheering me up . Her beloved dogs where her pride and joy . Magnifico - Amana - Princess Amana - The beautiful Lutafah - Dariella - Princess Majana - Burkino bred by Audrey Paul, & my Favourite Daoud El Shedid (Sid) by Grojec who at that time produced all of Chris's show winners . Sid was given to me to do as I pleased as he was not a horse anyone could handle . He ran with his mares all the time and was very rarely in . I met both Chris , Pete and Sid when I called in to see her horses , I was in awe of this powerful stallion whose mane at that time touched his knee's . He was absolutely fabulous . Chris explained they couldn't do anything with him nor could others that had tried . One day out of the bue Chris called me and asked if I would like to come and have a play around with the stallion they named Sid (Sid Viscious). This was the start of everything for me and my real introduction to this wonderful breed . I broke Sid rode him bareback up the busy Copthorne road and without an helmet . I was always being told by Brenda and Sylvia Hart about riding this way , but me and Sid had such a fantastic relationship something no one else had .
I have to give thanks to both Chris and Pete for learning me everything and the old english way . The european methods KEEP EM !! Thanks for giving me and Jill the opportunity to look after the Ambassadors Stud for 2 weeks so that you could have your first hard earnt holiday in 14 years . Two of the most hard working , & madly inlove with each other people I have ever met or known , now reunited .. Bless You Both ... Love You Both Always ....Chris , Jill Ben & Jak x |
