Posted - 11 Jan 2010 : 11:59:45 AM I don't normally do this, show pics of my own horses.
But today it was different. My lot have been barn bound for a week and this is the first day out. All behaved really well, just the silly mares got excited, but Montoya was and still is shocked!!
Montoya has never seen snow like this before!
My three mares next to him. The chestnut is due to foal 29th January!!
Montoya loves snow!
The black thing is my dog!
I think Monty is fed up with the dog, his face!
The face of an Angel.!

Posted - 12 Jan 2010 : 10:49:19 AM I have to be 'in the mood' to take photos and fiddling of posting them on here!
Anne and Deb, I wanted to grow out the crewcut, but now we can't as the European Championships are in October and the mane probably won't be long enough to plait. I shall have to wait till he stops doing in-hand and has his break to prepare for the ridden ringso much to do with him and not enough time! Monty is never bored!!
Lisa, you need to find arab families that are inherently sane and calm. Any bloodline can have them its all about finding the right one. Montoya's lines are showy, I make no bones about that! But he is calming down at a rapid rate, so I have to get all my dream shows out the way before he becomes too lazy. He will be perfect for the ridden ring then. The above is not to say he is naughty in any way, if he was he wouldn't be here with me! There is a huge difference between having Joie de Vivre and having a nasty temperament!
Old Golden Cavalier had a lovely calm nature and passed it on. Look that way maybe? |

Posted - 12 Jan 2010 : 07:41:17 AM Llvely pics. I love looking at all of the photos as well. I agree Lindylou threads are a must, they generally have lovely pics, another one is Gerri.
Down here in Cornwall we have only had snow since Thursday, but I am well and truly fed up with it now. It almost melted yesterday but all of that thaw had frozen over today
I hope it goes soon as my TB mare is due to foal in 6 DAYS |

Posted - 11 Jan 2010 : 11:26:11 PM Just one question.... my boy has outgrown a long bridle path, how do you stop it looking like its been cut? His fine mane has a kink... but this new bit is dead straight, have put a little funning plait in to disguise...not really doing so! |

Posted - 11 Jan 2010 : 7:05:30 PM Elaine, the foal rugs came from a lady who made them working from home in Taunton! I'll let you know their name off line (advertising) It was nearly 10 years ago when I bought them so maybe she isn't there now? I have three, so perhaps you could borrow one for your 'special' early baby
We were lucky to find a bag of salt and made a good path to the paddocks. The snow is soft and it feels very squishy under foot now, so we just had to get them out today. I understand why people worry. I do. We are forecast heavy snow tomorrow so at least they have all had a good roll today. Might push my baby along!!
Lisa , you have gone over to the dark side.......Welsh cobs? (I do like them!!) come back to us quick!!! |

Posted - 11 Jan 2010 : 6:14:34 PM Lovely pictures Sue, they look very happy - you are lucky to get them out. Unfortunatley we have ice / very slippery ground under the snow and daren't put them out, so they are all being exercised in the school each day. The local vets said they have put 6 horses down this week from injuries caused by weather (broken bones etc), but the thaw appears to be starting fingers crossed! |

Angel Face Monty - what a handsome chap !!!!!!!!!
Sue - where did you buy your foal rug lined with flectalon? I have a really tiny one, brand new - just waiting for the end of Feb or maybe earlier
I really love all the pics that are being put up - whenever I see LYNDILOU has posted I immediately have a look as she takes wonderful photos too - it all looks so picturesque but I can't wait for the Spring and warm sunny days.

Posted - 11 Jan 2010 : 3:16:56 PM Monty says thank you so do I.
Possibly not the best pictures of him at the moment, dirty mane and tail and the horrid crew cut bridle path. I wanted to let it grow out but we have decided to have a go at Morselle this year so his mane will get shaved again at Bluebell. I can't reach anymore.
