If you can't give him soaked hay, what about getting haylage? I don't use hay anymore as even soaking it isn't good enough for my gelding and pony. They will still cough.

Posted - 06 Jan 2010 : 11:58:35 AM Hi Pascoe My pony also gets very bad COPD he usually gets it in the summer months though. The best ones that i have used are feedmarks clarity or equine america's coff less powder is very good. Alongside one of these powders i use the equine america aitways solution on particularly bad days. Although sometimes he does get so bad the only thing i find that works is ventipulmin (sp?) from the vets. It depends on the severity of your boys condition. Also if it is winter COPD make sure you keep him warm and dont let him catch a chill as this can worsen it. Hope that helps. My poor boy gets it every summer he had a bad episode this summer and its horrible to see them like it. These are the ones ive found help my boy but unfortunatly it is sometimes trial and error as the same things dont work for every horse.
