I just wondered whether any of you have had this experience.
It is apparently rare and I found it quite frightening after years of delivering foals; but lucky for my filly I was there or she would not have survived. It was inpenetratable until the foal was actually right out and I had to tear it from the back to the front; her head was immersed in blood and water and I had to get her mouth open and cleared to get her breathing. She really is a lucky girl to be alive.

We've had 2 in 2 years, one was my girl Nazika last summer with her now lovely yearling colt - luckily it broke itself but he had big issues getting air to begin with and much mucus on his lungs - took him a good week to get right.
The other was last weekend, my mum's big mare, first we have ever had with a head back too - nightmare foaling, the mare just gave up and we literally had to pull the filly out after correcting the head - luckily not a thing wrong with her! |

Had it happen once in well over 200 foalings. Very scary none the less, foal very stressed and luckily vet managed to resus. This foal had been scanned as twinning but late on, wonder if there is any connection. |

Yes Alliya's dam had 2 like it the worset one was Alliya who was the last for Katalia |
