Posted - 15 Jul 2009 : 12:08:12 PM Sorry guys not been on in ages Been a few months of ups and downs. Hes getting himself to be a proper little dressage horse His average at the moment is 63
Went to Gwendraeth vallley the other week and had a horrible day. Warming him up and he spooked after jumping the practice fence and i came off so then took him into the working hunter class and i came of again just after the 1st fence. Photographer managed to take a nice pic before he bucked though So then took him into small hunter and we came 3rd
I had lost my confidence re jumping him after that but last weekend was the pony club eventing qualifiers at pembrey and id already entered. So decided to do the dressage and see how i felt about the rest.
So murphy was up first doing the 3ft which we wan Then it was sert. He did a lovely dressage with a score of 37.1, we were in 2nd place after the dressage. Went into the show jumping, flew the first but coming into the 2nd he napped towards the collecting ring so we had a stop, but he flew the rest so ended on 4faults. was really pleased Xc next and the course was only 2ft3 and the water was included but they had a L fence. Decided to do the L and decided that i was going to take my time and enjoy. He jumped the first 11 fine which included logs and a normady bank and then it was the water. We went past and I set him up for the L, silly bugger was spooking at the water so he stopped so We came around again and he jumped it second time. Next jump was tyres and we came up to it, and a stride out he stopped and swung round and goggle eyed the small pony that had caught up with us lol he jumped the next to fences trying to catch up with small pony
So waiting for the results, was really pleased with how it had gone especially as it had taken a lot for me to jump him. So when they put his score up they had him as Eliminated XC. Asked at the caravan why and they said the judge at the water had said hed had a refusal at the water L and then i missed it out but I had jumped it 2nd time. Went back to the lorry and was nearly crying, my mum went to the tent to see what they had to say when another fence judge heared what was being said and stuck up for me saying i did jump it the second time, so results were altered and we came 3rd didnt care about the rossette but was gutted that they'd said he'd not completed when he had.
Quiet weekend this sun. He's doing dressage. Murphs got the weekend of as we have the inter hunt relay at the Royal Welsh Monday cant wait

Posted - 15 Jul 2009 : 7:54:21 PM Aww Sarah - you really are an inspiration. We love hearing about you and Sert - the good and the bad!!
Sounds like you had a really stressful time of it lately, I am so glad that one of the judges realised you DID get over the jump (2nd time).
It's pretty tough out there competing and sometimes all seems to be going wrong, but you keep on going, and that is what it takes to succeed.
Concentrate on all that went well - very good dressage results, and very respectable results cross-country.
I hope you're feeling proud AND please put on some pics xx |
