Posted - 15 Jul 2009 : 12:27:41 PM Like Aunty Nick says, im only 17 and i havn't had a horse before. Babes, had a foal, but she wasn't bothered and the foal is now being hand fed. Basically the lady who owns her doesn'y have time for her. I have to say im a bit nervous about riding her after she hasn'nt been riden for a while. I can ride, but do you think it's worth having a few lessons, just to get back in the flow?

Posted - 13 Jul 2009 : 10:31:55 PM Hi Meg & welcome to AL A wealth of knowledge (and rambling...on my part!) Its lovely that you have Nicole as guardian angel, venturing into horse ownership can be a daunting thing. With the right guidance & help I'm sure you'll be just fine. These arabs have a way of looking out for us owners Good luck with your new mare & keep us posted

Posted - 13 Jul 2009 : 8:37:21 PM Hi Meg and welcome to AL,
Megan refers to me as Auntie Nick, although i'm not a related Aunt. Meg's mum and i have been friends for over thirty years, so she really is like a niece. I told her to join AL as i told her what a fab lot of people you are and how helpful and friendly everyone is.
I'm sure Meg won't mind me telling you all that she is 17, and this is her first horse on loan/share. She has never owned her own before. Meg learnt to ride at a local riding school and has ridden my horses over the years. She has probably been riding on and off for about 10 years. She is a really dedicated hard worker and she is going to be a wonderful horse sharer.
I think the mare she has just got on loan/share has had a foal this year and the foal is ready to be weaned soon. Once weaned, Meg can then slowly start bring the mare back into work.
I'll leave you all to answer her question, as we chat on facebook quite often and she can ring me for help and advice whenever she wants.
I'm soooo pleased Meggie that you have a horse on loan, i know you have waited sooooo long for this day. Even better that she is an Arab. I look forward to reading all the lovely replies i know you will get. Don't forget, just call if you need any help.
Love Auntie Nick xx
