Posted - 10 Jul 2009 : 11:14:51 PM Hi all, BIG THANK YOU to Tahir for posting my photos, it was very kind of you, thank you for your lovely coments about my boys. Sadly neither will be at Malvern as the baby was quite a late foal and we didn't feel it would be in his best interests. Harry (CGC) went last year - although he did very well by winning his class and going BNC, he was very unsettled away from home. So only uncle OTTOMAN coming on holiday! Sam - the foal is out of a lovely mare belonging to Holly arabians - named Dancing Gem by Advise (TB) dam Chrystal Treasure (Crabbet I think) She had a successfull showing career in hack/RH breeding, anglo/pb classes befor coming to stud. I quite fancy the BNFOTY show and eagerly await degails. Rach. ps am struggling for a name for the baby if any one has any bright ideas - gratefully accepted.!!!

Yes, we really need input from people who show at other show but not the Nationals. I keep asking the question but don't see the people who can tell us why.
So if you have any friends out there who support these shows but not Regional or Nationals please tell us your findings.Even if it is the usual problem of cost/prize money etc.
As you say any information can only be helpful to the Show Committee. |

Posted - 10 Jul 2009 : 11:06:27 AM Yes..........surely, from this thread alone, proof that Anglos are still being bred in numbers ...SO, come on Breeders, get them out there to be seen, admired and appreciated
The general census is that the yearling Anglo/PBA classes have been much better supported at the Major Shows this year. Hopefully a sign of an upturn in interest. (however it appears exhibits still very low in numbers at the Nationals)
Is it possible that those that are out there, exhibiting this year, would advise WHY they have chosen NOT to enter at the National Show?? Feedback may be useful to the AHS Nationals Show Committee
WE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THE ANGLO AND PART BRED ARAB BREED CLASSES AT OUR NATIONAL SHOWCASE SHOW!!! There has just got to be a positive reason why there is such a lack of support......please help us, WHY??

Posted - 09 Jul 2009 : 09:00:40 AM Hi
Just to let you know Kalaharee is very much alive i used him on one of my mares a couple of years ago and got a beautiful dark bay filly, i have also used Maraday Mistic Morn a few times and have never been disappointed, in fact my Anglo Philwood Pheonix is by Jake. |

Posted - 09 Jul 2009 : 08:25:50 AM Hi Philwood
Yes we did stand and compete Maximillion who was a premium stallion, but he had to be pts a few years ago following a colic.
They didnt keep an entire son of his so that anglo line is sadley gone.
Maraday. Jake is on the list! Do you still have Kalaharee as we added him to!

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 10:00:56 PM Hi,
Just thought I would confirm that we also have one of Somerset Morns colts Maraday Mystic Morn. Jake as he is know at home was very successful inhand including Double British National Champion, Best Anglo at the UK Champs to list just a few. Unfortunately people forget them if they are not on the circuit.
Another stallion by Somerset Morn is Maraday Somer Morn based in Wales, owned by Cheri Bell.

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 9:59:10 PM Hi all, Tahir - you are quite right about his breeding, though I must admit I didn't realise that his Grand Sire was such a star. (!) His baby is an absolute stunner and I couldn't be more thrilled with him. If I ever learn to put photos on here I will share him with you. |

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 6:48:29 PM Maximillion of Oakwood, didnt you use to stand him Nicky
Is he still about?

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 07:37:03 AM How old do i feel now hearing that name!!!
We had "flights of fancy of pinnerwood" by Colours, who i think was five times British Nat Champ and went on to go to HOYS five times as a large riding horse and is still going strong up in yorkshire!
We bred one foal form her by gemini but it had an accident and scared its self badly so just went of as a general riding horse.

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 07:36:10 AM Yes..........you are correct, Theobalds Flying Colours was eight times British National Champion. Can well remember the day at AHS Nationals, Peterborough 1976, when our homebred Anglo Filly actually beat him (must have been one of the very few, to ever have outshone Colours...and a very memorable day for us) Those were the days when classes regularly had entries of twenty plus.....AHHH the memories!!!
Can only hope Chanton Golden Colours fulfills his illustrious pedigree as we so need new young Anglo blood to replace the former Anglo Stallion Stars

Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 07:09:32 AM Oooh thats a blast from the past.... I used to own Theobalds Wonderful Colours! Lovely little chestnut gelding.... |
Tahir |
Posted - 08 Jul 2009 : 12:35:31 AM Rach 1, please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Chancton Golden Colours' dam (Desert Colours) by the 8x BNC Theobalds Flying Colours and out of BNC purebred mare Bint Ludoet. If I'm correct then Harry has some fantastic bloodlines, and his foals will no doubt be stunning!!!
Please forgive the error if the number of BNC's Theobalds Flying Colours achieved is incorrect. |

The filly i have on the for sale page is an anglo to anglo. She is also a premium AA to AA!With a lot of premium stock in her pedigree both TB and AA.
I like putting Gemini onto TB mares but that's just a personal preference!
I am lucky as i still end up with 25% so can go another generation crossed to a TB.
I remember having one of the Cymond mares and she was something like 3% arab!
