Not sure whether anyone can advise but wanting/hoping to put my mare in foal early next year by one of the above stallions. I am in love with both, Ssinsation is especially standing out as he has Melchior breeding which is in my mares Dam's side, and I would like to carry this line on within the foals line. Ffatal is an old favourite. His whole attitude to life and his stock are phenomenal, same as Ssinsation??...mmm...not sure which one to go for....

Does anyone have any advice on there progency? Maybe you could fill me in on how they are doing in the ring, and what they are like as a person? And can I just use Ssinsation? Or is he to be used on limited mares only?

xxxxxx

Esther I just knew you would be on here mentioning your lovely Ffortune aka Spud it's me gemma off facebook
LYNDILOU Posted - 26 Jun 2009 : 11:23:09 AM
I have a mare here by Ffatal attraction has been covered by crimbo and is going home tomorrow in foal I think the combintation of these two bloodlines is going to be fantasic, and Ssinsation has much to offer those people wanting to cross these lines two for themselves , Charismma is retired now so its up to his sons to carry on the good work. good luck with your search

I have a Ffatal Attraction mare on lease. She is in foal to LVA Maximus
She is very typey and well put together, huge mover and has the most amazing sweet loving temperament. So i am definatly a fan of Ffatal offspring!!
I have met Ssinsation in person numerous times and he also has a very kind and loving nature.
A really difficult decision for you! If i were you i would visit each stallion then you can see for yourself which has the better attributes to suit your mare. Dont just go by photos!!
Best of luck and have fun stallion searching!!

We've got Ffortune (Spud to his friends) - the grey in my sig. He used to be a top show horse before he lost his marbles (no fault of the breeding, more a fault of the ayrab in hand showing world...) and he's now a low to medium distance endurance horse. His nature is superb - if we ever need to pimp out one of our horses to a visiting rider, Spud's the one as he's so safe. Our friend's young daughter adores him, as to most of the kids in our village. Riding through the village is always a challenge with Spud because all his adoring public come out to pat him and tell us that he's their dream horse.

There's a few other Ffatals on the endurance circuit and you can always spot them Some Spudcam here: http://www.youtube.com/user/WestridingEGB if you want a virtual experience of riding a Ffatal son.

we had an absolutely fabulous anglo colt by ssinsation this year who exceeded all our hopes. he has a superb temperament, cheeky and inquisitive, as you would want a foal to be,yet smart enough to quickly learn whats what and who's boss. you will find tracey to be very helpful and supportive and will go out of her way to work with you and your mare's timing. (not always convenient to us humans)suggest you look at both stallions and talk to both owners, i think quite often the right horse just stands out and tells you so. good luck and remember, no need to rush this decision if your not covering till next year. sally.

Totally agree with Delyth and admire her for her honesty with regard to the mare's input into the resulting foal - so many people seem to look to the stallions to work miracles, and yes some stallions are very prepotent and great improvers - but to my mind the mare is the main contributor to the foal - hopefully the stallion is 'the icing on the cake' (doesn't stop some stallion owners taking all the credit for the best babies though )

They are both lovely stallions - good luck in your exciting venture

You're absolutely right Delyth! You have to look a long way ahead.

It was really nice to see Ssinsation at Wessex - I'd only seen pictures. I have a friend with a mare due to him, and about to pop (if she hasn't already!) so it was good to see him in person. I liked him very much - just my type. Ffatal has nothing left to prove Delyth!!

I completely agree Del, Amy hasn't got the longest of necks, so need to be looking at a nice long neck to try and encourage abit more length, you'll have to come up Del and see what you think? We're not far from you anyway are we?I completely understand a stallion can't fix it all, but some including these two are great improver stallions. She is quite a short coupled mare so length isn't really an issue, but main thing is to try and breed more height into her. She is around 14.1, and want to aim to get around a 15hh at least, and like you say, this may not happen with that foal itself but maybe the next generation or so after? By no means do I want this to be a one foal miracle, I do want to breed for the future and hopefully breed some nice babies along the way! (fingers crossed) but I want to do everything right, and pick the right stallion from the off.
Thank you all for your help! Its very interesting to hear all of your comments.
My other post 'I'M NEW HERE' shows pictures of my mares, the first two being the mare I want to breed from, the second her mum. Would be interesting to hear of your thoughts and views on them. (excuse amy's tail, the idiots who had her cut it off!!!! long story!!!)

What a perfect description "He's pure Tingle". I'm a big fan. I lady down the rode came by on her new Arab, I dont know her but just had to stop her to look at this horse, there was something about it, a sort of magic. I asked her about the breeding and she said she didn't really know much but it was by Ffatal Attraction; she had clearly bought the horse for itself without knowing about the breeding. It certainly had inherited his 'tingle'. Anyway, I had plucked up the courage to just stop her in the road simply because her horse was stunning, rather than me liking it just because of who sire was. :) He is a true beauty and gentleman.

Well said Lynda (and Del) - that's why you breed such lovely foals

You are of course right Delyth, so many mare owners expect their foals to to be as stunning as the stallion they use, yet didnt take into account that their mare may have been sadly lacking in certain area's. the stallion can only do so much and is often blamed if the resulting foal is a dissapointment. it is wise to study pedigrees but as Delyth says be strong enough to look at your mare and see her faults, and with this in mind pick the right stallion for you,( but if you choose the stallion , then dont blame him if he didnt manage to put all the faults right
Reagarth Posted - 25 Jun 2009 : 11:13:42 AM
I've bred 3 Ffatal foals and the temperment of each of them is just wonderful. One of the 2 colts (where's the filly guarantee),Ffarouk Ibn Crisaa, has been shown and won loads, is still entire and a *****cat the other is a gelding and best friend. The filly, Affiffa, is now in Denmark and has produced an outstanding filly herself this year

He reminds me of the saying 'life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away'. He's pure tingle

Thank you for the lovely comments Helen and your continued leadership of the Ffatal fanclub Lou !!!!

I can't comment for obvious reasons !! He's my god and has done so much for me. From his offspring to his personality he owes me nothing.

I've just quoted this elsewhere and it has always stuck in my mind. George White told me a mare is 70/80 % of the resulting foal. Sometimes I've found this quite a conservative estimate !!! Perhaps an exception to this rule was my Bint El Sanaa who let the stallions do so much. It is so much easier today to study the prepotency of stallions today with the help of the internet. It's important to see what traits they offer and what lurks in a pedigree. Wayne Newton won't use a horse with anything undesirable to him in a pedigree as he says it's going to come back and bite you sometime.......he's bred some of the worlds most beautiful Arabians and still continues to. The leading ME Straight Egyptian breeders are also dedicated to pedigrees and will not tolerate certain bloodlines. Again, their barns hold some of the worlds finest Arabians.

As hard as it is you must be sooooooo critical of your own mare. Pull her to pieces. Decide what needs to be done. Can it be done in one hit ?? If you are breeding you often try to breed for future generations. It's a heartbreaking process and I often stand in a field with my mares wondering why I bother and where I'm going !! You've got alot to do Bedawi !!!

I've had a look at Ffatals breeding record and I can't see that he's covered anything of similar bloodlines.

You are welcome to visit Ffatal and some of his brood. Or check out www.peakland-arabians.com there's loads of them on the gallery !!!

Thanks guys, nice to know abit more about his progency. I have spoken to Del, must go and see her and Ffatal soon. And will look out for Tracey, hopefully I could arrange to see Ssinsation too.

Thank you both so very much again xxxxxx
kate b Posted - 25 Jun 2009 : 12:04:03 AM
Both are wonderful, but it would have to be Ssinsation for me! But it is down to personal choice, so you should go meet them both and then try to make your decision.
Both owners post on here, and both Delyth and Tracey are very friendly and I am sure would welcome a visit!!

As a big Ffatal fan I can genuinely say he is a super person. SO chilled a real king and his children never disappoint, I have two of his daughtrers and have used him a few times on other mares. I have only seen Ssinsation in photos so couldnt comment on him in all honesty, great pedigree though.
Both my Ffatal girls have bred champion after champion for me, so they breed on well, and nic with a variety of bloodlines - which I think is very important.
