just interested as to what things stay in your mind?for me it is
meeting Betty Skelton for the first time she had visited the Isle of Wight to see her life long friend Jean McAuslane who taught me to ride,never thought her grandaughter would teach my grandson 40 years on. Going for tea with my daughter to Julia Wynmalin's when her back was turned we put her cakes in my handbag because they were full of dog hairs,she thought we enjoyed them.Had lots of specials with Julia including going to Royal Windsor with her and being treated like Royalty,the stewards would leave the ring to give us coffee,we did meet the queen of course.Valletta Madirigal had the highest marks for conformation out of any ridden horse at Towerlands not bad for a rescue case.Moss Side Murdo my Highland had a super win at the breed show beating the Queen's,not bad for another rescue case.Gosh didnt know i had so many memories.

Seeing the very beautiful El Shaklan as a colt - so different to any other Arab at the time ... so wished I'd seen him again as a mature horse ... and had the photographic equipment I have now. |

Yes, Berrycroft, those were the days of the Super Anglos....when every class stretched across the arena. Ahhhhh if we could still see the like in the Anglo classes at the Arab National these days.
It really is a case of "the good old day" as far as Anglo Arab Breeding is concerned and wonder if we will ever see the like again???
Sigh....we can keep hoping, maybe........

I'll never forget the first time I saw Borneo at the Nationals as a young stallion with Emma showing him. He was jaw dropping and it was love at first sight!  Watching Pilarka win at Malvern too. Visiting Halsdon Arabians for the first time (and everytime after really) was pretty special! |

Well done, Babs, beating Theobalds Flying Colours - I just loved that horse and judged him myself way back in the day ! He was spectacular and who could forget Pat Marriott showing him ? ? Ah, those were the days of the Super-horses, eh ? ?

Visiting Ralvon Elijah in his stable at Tollard royal in 1986 WHAT A HORSE the memory of him will stay with me for a long long time,such presence in a stallion....
Visiting Nola Stevens yard in 1987 and sitting on Crown of Argosy bareback in his stable...........
The first time i won at any major arab show, South west group in 1989 Tarib won his class (from 20 yearling colts) was junior male champion, then went on to be reserve overall male Champion of the show to dear old Mustaphah we came down off a high a week later........
Going to Major and Mrs maxwells open day in the 90's and meeting Maliek El Khiel who was a lovely cuddly boy i could have put him in the boot of the car and taken him home ....... |

not neccessarily horse related but standing on a balcony on a wet june day watching the Royal coach going to the Coronation and going to Imber Court with my step-dad (ex household cavalry and mounted police based at the Yard) and being allowed to sit on Winston who carried the Queen at Trooping of the Colour. |

For me........it was in 1976 when our first homebred Anglo Arab Sunray Seranata, won her yearling class of Twenty two entries forward and went on to gain her British National Championship status (incidentally beating the colt Theobolds Flying Colours, who went on to gain eight British National Championship awards)
How proud were we when presented with that special rosette with the words BRITISH NATIONAL CHAMPION 1976 in gold block print on the rosette tails..........and....how gutted were we, when, whilst photos were being taken, Seranata had decided (and we had not noticed) to chew the ribbons into pulp!! 
Such is life......sigh!!
