Posted - 11 Jun 2009 : 3:08:05 PM just got to hope new owners will get in touch and change the ownership details. Im sure people wont give up till she is found! x |

Posted - 11 Jun 2009 : 2:27:26 PM Im sure she`d have been sold with both her PBA & British Palomino Society papers & The palomino Society puts all ownership transfers in their magazine , which is very handy ! |

Posted - 11 Jun 2009 : 08:20:31 AM What sort of papers would she have had? If she is Arab Horse Society registered.... whilst fully understanding the point of the Data Protection Act (working in a firm of lawyers), I am sure if someone (perhaps even through the AHS welfare committee, posed a question to the AHS office regarding a concern for the welfare of the mare, they might be able to indicate if the horse in question had gone to a "home"/been re-registered? Ditto with The Palomino Society? Not asking for details (which they should not give) but a general "yes, she's in a home and has been re-registered". Surely like the pure bred arabs, part of her value is only in her pedigree for breeding. Ditto, wouldn't they know if she has been exported? (Ref Sarah's email above?) |

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 10:51:54 PM Yes i agree , she went for quite a price considering her condition & The Shulay stud were undoubtably one of the top Palomino studs for about 20 yrs! 3 of her 1/2 brothers ( by Eldyr) were Palomino National Supreme Champions & her dam is full sister to Legend Arabesque (now exported to Denmark) she`s the dam of 3 national Supreme champions so her bloodlines are valuable for anyone breeding palomino`s |

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 7:59:27 PM What a sad story If he paid £720 for her there is no way he would have sent her to kill - according to our local meat man they only pay *roughly* 50p per lb and that's dead-weight so he may have been lucky to get a quarter of that back if she is very poor? Poor little mare, hope she is located and safe soon. |

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 7:11:12 PM Feel very sure that Montana was not destined for the abattoir. The fact that she was said to be in very poor skinny condition, no dealer would pay £720 for a horse with no meat on it.!!!! That price was surely way above slaughter value ???
Methinks, she may well have changed hands on the day, at the sale and went on the Buyers Horsebox that day. Can only hope she has gone to a caring home.
Hope A/L`s detective work will finally locate Shulay Montana and we shall have closure and hopefully news she is now in a caring home, for the rest of her days

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 7:00:11 PM Yes mares gone from next to my field too. Had a look around other fields......she isnt there. After speaking to Mr B twice I believe she is not around!!!! Would really love to be proven wrong and read a happy ending, but fear not unless she went on someone elses lorry from the sale??? Does anyone have any contact in the blood farms in Scotland?. |

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 3:10:09 PM OK just a thought, but....... years ago I used to front at the sales for a dealer and vice versa, not because he was a bad man or anything quite the opposite actually, but if people knew he was bidding for something sometimes the price went up so he would ask me. and on other occasions he would bid for something so I was not taken advantage of if it was being sold by another dealer, sorry to put yet another angle on this sale but have been following the thread of this from the beginning and really wish I could do something constructive to help, but I have to say what a marvelous lot you are not to give up on this mares plight, if I can help in anyway I will, I too would love to read "Happy Ending" |

Posted - 10 Jun 2009 : 2:07:06 PM My friend says all the horses have gone from this dealer's field next to her. She thinks he has sprayed it. She will keep a keen look out for when they return. What I don't understand is why a dealer would want to put off potential purchasers as some of you have said before. Either he had a buyer waiting or he is getting her in better condition so she makes more money. There are often mares with foals in the field so another alternative is he might be going to breed from her. Unless already sold she will be available sooner or later; it's what he is in business for. I doubt he has put her in another market yet if she was thin. He will want to maximise his profit and grass is cheap at this time of year. |

Posted - 08 Jun 2009 : 11:26:53 PM I suspect as someone else stated Delyth, that he thought by saying he would not sell he would get everyone off his back. Will keep an eye out SW/Bristol way. xx |

Posted - 06 Jun 2009 : 09:07:14 AM I am always dubious of dealers, they are a pretty cagey lot in general, perhaps there is some thing he would rather we didn't know. After all it is all about profit margin. I would like to thank those AL members who so diligently keep watch on the sales on our behalf, and keep us informed. Thankyou |

Posted - 06 Jun 2009 : 06:56:30 AM I really hope so. Why didn't he just say that, if he'd have said yes I bought her but already had a buyer lined up we'd have thought great she's got a home. He's a dealer that's what he does, deals.....but why the line saying he won't sell her. Perhaps it is a straight forward situation but one that has been made more difficult by an odd man !! |

Posted - 05 Jun 2009 : 11:46:47 PM Just to let you all know, if there is still any speculation on what price she sold for & whether she actually sold in the ring or not, that ive just had it confirmed she definately sold in the ring to Mr Beaman at 720 guineas. I doubt from this she has been sold on for meat, thank God!! I just hope he already had a buyer lined up & she is tucked up safe in a stable some where! |

Posted - 05 Jun 2009 : 07:55:46 AM Is there any definite news that Mr Beaman has sold her - or is it just rumour & speculation. He could after all just be saying he's sold her to get everyone off his back. If she's now in a good home and will be well looked after I will stop my connections searching for her.
Really appreciate someone advising me, thank you - a PM would be ideal under the circs.

Posted - 05 Jun 2009 : 12:24:22 AM My pal told me who'd bought her and that there were several after her and that they were bidding against each other, and the price went to more than that....and that the horse had gone to Scotland. Cumbria is'nt too far away. Sue |
