My Ideal Ramsey is the only saddle that has fitted my gelding Zak over the years , it also fits all my ridden Arab liveries and my youngster Venus . I tried all sorts before discovering this . My Ideal Jessica never fitted any of my Arabs so I sold it recently but I was very interested in Pashas post about Ideal making her a dressage saddle as we have to do medium dressage in our show saddle and one day , when I've saved some pennies, it would be great to have a dressage saddle made for Zak.

If anybody's still interested I have now advertised mine on the Misc section...it is currently in Essex so no problems sending from Fance.

Hello Angelarab - thanks very much for the welcome!Much appreciated. The Fat Arab is lovely - he's by Marechal out of Roxanya and is 20 now. I've had him for about 11 years and it's been quite a saga as he had had some bad times in the past - as well as very good ones, which I found out about later, as I tracked his life back. He is extremely sharp, very sensitive and very extravagant in his action - recipe for falling off, which I do at least once a year! He is such a wonderful character, and enormous fun to ride. I'd love to take him to the Crabbet Show, but he's not a great fan of travelling, although has got better over the years, so I think Wales is a bit too far.
Again, thank you for your welcome; I'll investigate getting some photo's of him on here and post when successful!

Another big fan of them here aswell. Lovely people and helpful to. Ps you dont need to go through your saddler to get them fitted, they do (or used to) sell direct for bespoke, and would probably be a little cheaper this way. Ps also a huge fan of flair.

Wonderful saddles which suit Arabs particularly well. My first purebred was quite hard to fit a saddle to, but then I got an Ideal Jessica which fitted him like a glove and is a great saddle to ride in as well. I got it refitted to fit Zaharoff, but if it hadn't been possible to fit that particular saddle to him I would have definitely got another Ideal.

Another vote for them here, I have two, a dressage one for my lad and the Ramsay showing one for my mare. I love them both and have had them for ages and just had them re-stuffed, tweeked when needed.

Hi Judith
I am looking to purchase a saddle and would be interested in the one you have for sale
pam Posted - 17 Apr 2009 : 7:09:29 PM
fanatstic saddles! I would definately have them in preference to anything else, luckily they always seem to have been the best fitting on my horses over the years anyway. Years ago I had one made - off the shelf basic design but they made it with felt panels and not traditional flocking as it sits much flatter which was what my round arab needed. A normally flocked saddle gave too much 'roll' on his back.
In case that hasn't come across very well it still had an ideal amount of clearance over the withers/spine - I dont mean it sat flat on those areas more that it moulded around his back rather than sat perched on it like some saddles do!!

Nikki I have an ideal working hunter saddle for sale. I'll have to check on the size. What width fitting are you after?
Reagarth Posted - 17 Apr 2009 : 4:45:30 PM
I've got a lovely nearly new black Ideal with Flare panels and nothing to put it on It's 171/2" working hunter/dressage wide fit. If anyone is interested please do get in touch - it's been sitting around too long!

Hello I'm new here, so thought I'd do a 'trial post' and see if it came out! Yes - Ideal saddles are wonderful; I've had two - one a dressage saddle which fitted me and The Fat Arab (fabulous ex-working stallion, 99.7% Crabbet) really well and has continued to do so (checked and altered if necessary every six months)for years. Decided to get a GP saddle last year but wanted a really deep seat and close contact; Ideal made one via my saddler to my/his specification - result - FAB! And very reasonable price - below £1000 new.
Fat Arab is very short backed narrow withered and broad shoulders/deep girth so not the easiest chap to fit well. Ideal did it!

Ideals are Ideal!! And light too for starting babies - they're also easy to get adjusted
(my nice saddle lady deals with them a lot - if you ever get to Beeston with us lady I'll introduce you two!!)

THEY ARE FANTASTICO

I have the Ramsey Show Saddle (for Showing obviously) as it fitted my boy perfectly and then when I wanted a Dressage Saddle and none on the market fitted (typical), Ideal in conjunction with my saddler made me the most perfect Dressage Saddle from scratch - they took templates of my boys back and I got to sit on all the different saddles they make and pick my flaps - I have extra padding in the seat, a narrow twist and they even made bespoke stirrup keepers for me! Hey presto, 8 weeks later on the dot as promised, my beautiful saddle and all for the same price as an off the peg one

I cannot tell you the difference it made to Pasha's way of going and my riding - Pasha developed a beautiful top-line and we never looked back! Saddler came to check it 3 months later and then 6 months after that! Perfect!
