Posted - 07 Jul 2009 : 12:41:25 PM So very pleased with my pony! We tried our 1st 120km ER this weekend.
Not only did we finish, but we finished 3rd, with a very respectible speed of 15.2kph.
A very tired pony and rider yesterday but I am over the moon.
When I bought Marygold as my first horse/pony, I had an idea I'd quite like to do some low-level endurance. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would get to this level. Despite the mad hair, and the short legs, my pony continues to surprise me with her ability.
My OH was crewing for me - his first foray into endurance, nothing like throwing him into the deep end!!! He was brilliant - just superb. And though he'd never admit to it, I think he secretly enjoyed it.
Best little chestnut part-bred arab mare in the world? Absolutely!!!
Posted - 10 Jul 2009 : 11:09:37 PM Wow, that's wonderful news. We were at Kings too and had a fabulous day, but still havent managed to get above 80k. Really thought it would happen this year, but my one advanced horse has had odd silly problems this year - damaged a hoof loosing a shoe at Haywood Oaks, got a cough and missed Dukeries, booked him into Euston for the 80k and he refused utterly totally and completely to go down the bank into the river and then managed to fall down the bank on his side with me buried in the sand under him ..... But I still love him lots and am still looking at the 100k's left in the diary to see if he could manage any of them. I am very lucky OH is permanent crew, lucky me. He describes it as half an hour of getting lost, 10 minutes of inactivity followed by 3 seconds of mayhem ! Good Luck and keep going, will look for you at the next rides.

Posted - 07 Jul 2009 : 5:00:01 PM Well done you two! Thats a fabulous time. And thank you to Marygold for looking after Spider from her corrall the week before last..
Posted - 07 Jul 2009 : 3:02:12 PM I'm sure Marygold isn't the least bit embarrassed about your mad hair and short legs and knows that you always try your best
Well done . Its going to be a few years before Mr Roo & me are aiming for anything that huge but if we have half the success and fun you and Marygold have been having then I'll be well chuffed.
