I am hoping to enter a "Showman" class with my mare in April. I am looking at buying/borrowing/hiring a arabian costume for myself and bridle / saddle type costume for my girl. We provide music (again any suggestions?) and do an individual show to music in front of judges.
I have always wanted to "dress up" in full arabian costume, so thought this would be really good fun to do at this show.
If anyone has such an outfit they would be willing to lend/hire to me I would be most greatefull and make sure it was returned back in the same condition as sent. Equally happy to buy said outfit.

Isnt the authentic ridden bannished to the health and safety cupboard??? am sure its not at Malvern anymore because of health n safety issues??I havnt seen any authentic ridden at any shows for quite some seasons now? shame coz it looked awesome.. |

Thanks very much! It was easy really with the help of the book. I'm sure you would be able to come up with something. You need to choose a colour that contrasts with your horse for maximum effect. You also need to be careful of the cheap imitation costumes that one may find on the internet as the saddle tends to slip very easily as the girth is not substantial enough. That is why I made it to fit round my normal saddle It was good riding at Malvern, I would love to be able to do it again, but also very scary as I galloped at the judges!  |

WOW Dassa what an amazing photo! And you are so clever at putting together your outfit, I unfortunatly would not know where to start, not creative at all LOL.
Bet you felt amazing riding your stunning horse round the arena like that |

I'm making one for my boy currently... mine is just for me to 'have' if you know what I mean I doubt I will compete in it as there are never any classes around... and I'm also going for the more 'American/hollywood' style which I know isn't very 'popular' over here haha!!! oh well

I made mine out of a pair of velvet curtains from the charity shop. Added lots of tassels and trimmings and bought a webbing bridle to stitch things onto, and bought a book that shows you how to do it!! Easy!!
