Posted - 16 Feb 2011 : 10:16:44 AM Hiya, thought I would post this as I went to nationals last summer and showed in the in-hand crabbet class and my whip was too long so hopefully you find this useful! I dont have any pictures too hand unfortunately of traditional bridles as opposed to the very 'pretty' ones you tend too see - but hope the rules below help
All horses forward MUST be shown in a natural manner. The pose must be natural, i.e. fore feet together and one hind leg slightly behind the other. The head should be held with the neck showing natural arch and curve of throat line, muzzle would be in line with a point around six – eight inches below the wither. The horse should be trained to stand quietly in this position with expression of interest in the handler. A frozen pose is unacceptable. Any unnatural posing, flicking with a whip or circling when being run out, will result, at the Judge’s discretion, in the horse being judged as though no presentation or display had been possible and therefore penalized accordingly. Whips must be no more than the length of a cane i.e. 65 cm. Halters can be modern as long as they are comfortable for the horse. |

Posted - 10 Feb 2011 : 8:06:13 PM I dont think the mane "hogging back" isnt allowed as such... its just not correct for the class
I show in crabbet classes as well and have seen lots of long whips, again, not correct but I dont think they're not "allowed"

Posted - 08 Feb 2011 : 5:45:48 PM Hi mouse,i did some inhand showing with my crabbet mare last summer for the first time and was advised that if your horse is dark in colour then wear light colour clothing and if like mine chestnut, white socks and blaze then wear darker clothing,i wore black smart trousers, white blouse/shirt and black waistcoat. Hope that helps, we got placed each time out which was a great feeling. Have fun. |
