Just that it stipulated DIY only and Full livery as a no no... very odd! Maybe they have different terminology in the Midlands and they mean schooling or competition livery which would make sense! Shame as will put alot of people off as most people are on part or DIY assisted and may think they are excluded like I did?
Nut Posted - 27 Jan 2011 : 3:29:57 PM
Lessons are always fine for amatuers and do not discount you from home produced or any amatuer classes or championships i know of. I have lessons every week and compete in these.

I cant answer the question on full livery. I'm sure if they are not ridden by anyone then its fine x

Sorry but why are only horses kept on DIY Livery classed as Home Produced? My two are on Full Livery but no-one else rides them or lunges them so why would i be excluded?

Also what does 'trained by a Professional Producer mean'? Does it mean if you have lessons? As that would exclude almost everybody... please can someone explain? Thanks x

Hi everybody - sorry been buzi hope this helps in terms of selecting a class -
HOME PRODUCED CLASSES – These classes are open to horses and ponies that have been stabled at home (without any paid assistance) or kept at livery on a DIY basis since 1st October 2010. Horses / ponies must not have been shown or trained by a professional Producer or kept at full livery at any time during this period (except for service in the case of Brood Mares). To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not derive their main income from working with horses/ponies. It is anticipated that exhibitors will enter in the true spirit of this competition.

RESTRICTED CLASSES – These classes are open to HORSES, PONIES AND RIDERS that have not qualified for the Royal International Horse Show, the Horse of the Year or Olympia in 2010 or 2011 before the date of the Show. This includes horses, ponies and riders that have qualified for Search For A Star in 2010 or 2011.

NOVICE CLASSES – These classes are open to horses and ponies that have not won a first prize at any affiliated Show in an open classification on or before the 1st January in the current year.

Birdof1977 not sure why you are having problems just go to google and type in equifest and it should bring up the home page....good luck

Hi I went to Equifest last year just for one class that I qualified for as I wanted to see what my horses reaction would be (as although 18 this year has never really been further than a hour in the horsebox before and never stayed overnight at a show!!) Anyway she was amazing and the judge said she gave him the best ride of the day so far so was thrilled with her !!!!

Definitely going again this year as have qualified for the small hacks again already, but was wondering what part-bred classes I should enter as I am definitely a grass-roots competitor and all the options are a little daunting (am use to just having one ridden pure/ part and anglo class). If anyone could give me some advice as to which classes I should go for it would be very helpfull!!

My horse is 15hh, 18 year old (in april), part-bred Arab that has never been to HOYS and is produced by myself!! Should I be going for novice or restricted classes???????

I emailed them yesterday asking about whether I there is a class suitable for arabian native costume and they said that there will be a Period/traditional costume class and I can wear it in there YIPPEEEEE WOOOO

I'm so excited now HAHA!!! xxxx
Nut Posted - 18 Jan 2011 : 7:35:36 PM
Hey jess, from what I can read, you can enter every class every day so long as your eligible for them! Join the facebook group, the organiser replies to loads of messages on there on the schedule!

It's fantastic to have arab classes in this show and such a wide range!!

although still a little confused, does this mean we can only enter on arab class per horse?!

can't wait for the season to start again!!!

There are classes on most days for arabs, they seem to do this for all manor of classes to cater for those that take loads of horses to the show and make a week of it...something for you all to have a go at on most days
Dark Angel Posted - 18 Jan 2011 : 2:25:06 PM
I scanned the schedules to see where the palomino classes were but couldn't find any. Please let me know if I missed them.

hi Jess, when putting these classes together there was a lot headscratching as too how 'fair' we could make it for everyone
understandbly we want all the classes filled but really want the grass roots competitors to come out of the woodwork and show off their arabs.
Although some of the classes will be affiliated AHS and therefore you can qualify for BACS & BAHPAC we felt it would be a nice to have classes available for horses that havent been to HOYS for past 4 yrs or something and given others a chance to ride in the spotlight and have that moment of glory!
I mean that in a sincere way as well!! as many HOYS horses are lovely! And lets face it HOYS is somewhere we all (me included) aspire to be as a rider, but we are always banging about people not entering classes and maybe they are just 'afraid' to enter regional shows and this gives them a feel to be judged by professional arabian judges,(very important) and get feedback.

I will get some feedback and clear up the confusionabout classes.. and lets support this show!! there is lots on and its all very exciting!
well done to everyone who pushed for this show its taken quite a few months to get it off the ground
big enormous pat on back for NUT who got this started , I do believe we are trying to get the Four Winds Arab classes back on track for 2011 as well as they were sadly cancelled due to terrible weather last yr keep you posted x
Jess.And.Tiger Posted - 17 Jan 2011 : 11:13:10 PM

I'm a little confused why there is so many arab classes HAHA

So can you do both the restricted and open?! PLUS there are also DIFFERENT classes for mares, geldings, stallions!?!? why so many classes
also there is Home produced but that understandable, the other classes I'm confused by so there is-

Novice pure breds
open pure breds
restricted pure breds
pure bred geldings
pure bred mares
pure bred stallions
pure bred home produced

I'm confused hahaha!!!

Looks like a nice show though!!!

Ohh there's lots for my little angel to do! And only 20 miles away
Rach1 Posted - 16 Jan 2011 : 7:33:52 PM
Hi Etoile, I may be wrong but I believe the difference is a restricted class is open to those not qualified for HOYS in the last couple of years. You will need to check the exact time/date restriction. Good Luck.
Etoile Posted - 16 Jan 2011 : 11:39:22 AM
This is quite close to me! But as a newcomer (hopefully) to showing this year could anyone tell me the difference between 'class 8 novice ridden pure bred arab' and 'class 238 restricted ridden pure bred arab'?
