I'm very sad to say that the Foal & Youngstock Arab Section at Best of British Events' "Champions of the Future" Foal & Youngstock show has been removed from future shows. This decision has been made entirely due to lack of support! All other sections are 'On-Fire' and we have groups clammering to be included.

I have fought for the Arab Section for several years, in actual fact set up the show in the first place with Arabs as my personal preference. I find that sadly I no longer have an argument to continue as so poorly supported. It can't be due to the fact that I haven't appointed AHS Panel Judges as they have been appointed in past years even though we aren't affiliated to the AHS. (Affiliation not worthwhile as no benefits are available to this type of show).

I have to thank those few people who have supported us this year and in previous years, it was very much appreciated, and the judge this year commented on the quality of the horses brought before him.

I know our dates clash with the National Foal Show but we are almost a hundred miles away so it shoudn't really affect us by distance alone. Obviously, Arabian Youngstock Owners/Breeders don't want to attend/support shows in their locality...so sadly 'Another one Bites the Dust', as far as Arabs are concerned, anyway. We also included in our programme, Home/Amateur Produced classes and Produce Groups, so there was plenty to come for, but like numerous other shows (we are in very good company!!!) we cannot continue providing sections with such little support.

Perhaps someone, somewhere has the answer - but from a personal aspect I very much regret losing the Arabs in this way.

Thanks Again to those who have supported us and to our judges of past & present years.

Thanks for your response Barbara....we have tried many times to promote the Arabs, but people don't seem interested in showing their (Arab) horses at anything other than 'C' shows, and even some of those are struggling. How will we ever promote the breed successfully if people don't bite the bullet and bring them to shows where classes are designated to them.

I know how much work you put in to promote Anglo's and they CAN compete on a more level playing field against other breeds at Open Shows. Pure-Bred owners must get their horses out and compete at all levels the more they bring them out the more classes and shows will accomodate them.

Part-Breds and Anglo's are the ambassadors for the breed but are still so few in numbers, in their own classes.

I do hope there is a change in attitude very soon and Arab people put their confidence in their breed of horse and get them out there competing alongside the rest. The few that are out there doing it, are making a fabulous job in all disciplines. However we are still hearing the shock comments of "OMG its an Arab" didn't know they could, Jump, Do dressage, Not acting stupid or flighty. YES they can do it all - All we need to do is take them out and prove it!

Best Wishes to everyone for the New Year and lets make it a season for the Arabian.

BrendaM.....can really understand your frustration as we too are experiencing the same lack of enthusiasm from exhibitors in the Anglo/PBA and Pure Arab classes, whilst other sections are very well filled.

BNFOY is in its eighth year and goes from strength to strength but somehow does not attract Arabian/Anglo/PBA Breeder/Owner/Exhibitors in the numbers we wish for

What is the answer...really dont know!!!

Will continue to retain the Arab sections in the future and hope that matters improve
