Salladin can't do endurance at the moment as his heels on his front feet are collapsing, so he's now on a remedial shoeing program and just can't do the distances or the speed. He's going to be doing a bit of local dressage to keep him amused, but there's also a local riding club putting on a show with in hand and ridden arab classes. Can I do these with heartbar shoes and gel filling on his front feet? (normal shoes on the back) I've got an in hand halter, see below for the only decent pic I got of him in it!
Our first attempt at standing up, trotting up etc. were interesting

And I'm not sure who was trotting who up here, but I wasn't going for a triangular path back to his field!
And for ridden would I get away with a treeless ansur dressage saddle (just looks like a normal black dressage saddle) and a black snaffle with white backing on the browband? Rider wise would I get away with jodphur boots (small feet, narrow heels, and short fat calves do not make long boot shopping easy! )? Also do I need to carry a show cane for either? |

Just one thing you have to do hun .... run faster and let him move freely (dont hold his head to tight) he im sure will do the rest for you. |

We have pulled our website for the time being, but I can send you some proof shots of Salladin from the show in question. His old owner had a lovely montage done of him (took my husband hours to do!!) and I remember being really stunned by just how stunning a horse he is. |

Thanks for the nice comments Khezza, I must say that at the time I was laughing to hard to persuade him to do anything else! Qui Gon Jinn, I'm hoping that we'll get in the ring, and he'll know exactly what to do, and I can just follow him round! Sadly though I took him on a parelli course last year and when we first got out the carrot stick he thought that it was a show stick and flew straight into a show pose, I then proceeded to desensitize him by using it as a scratching stick, so he's possibly going to think its time for bum scratches in the ring! (Though really I wouldn't change it as poor salad looked terrified of the stick bless him, I'm much rather we couldn't get a proper pose than have him look scared by it all). Does your husband have a photographers website with galleries etc. by any chance? |

Salladin should be able to teach you all about showing........particularily In Hand! I've got quite a few lovely shots that we took of him when he was in Scotland and my husband was the official photographer for the Scottish Regional Group Show a few years ago (probably about 4!). He was entire then, much darker grey then and such a wonderful mover. Lovely lad. Good luck with him. |

Sorry - don't know much about showing, but just wanted to say that Salladin is very handsome and I love his "alert" look for the judge!!!! Made me chuckle!! |
