Posted - 17 Jan 2011 : 3:05:18 PM What a difference a year makes!
Got the filly in on fri for the farrier and took some stood up pics. She has improved so much from the small little foal last jan.
Not great pics as she kept turning to see what I was doing but you ca get an idea of what she is like.
Unfortunately her mother reabsorbed, so no sibling this year but the mare is off to the filly's sire in a couple of weeks to hopefully get the same again but a COLT!

Posted - 18 Mar 2010 : 12:44:16 PM Little Arabians, I won' t be meeting your OH i'm afraid even if Betchworth does win. We aren't going to Chelts but will be cheering him on from home
Latest update from Ireland is that the mare has been covered and the foal is doing really well. It will be strange when she comes home and is so much biiiggggeerr |

Posted - 14 Mar 2010 : 10:56:17 AM One of ours is running at Cheltenham on Fri, The Betchworth Kid. He is one of ours inasmuch as he was bred here at the stud, my OH foaled him and we prepped him for yearling sales, so although I am not the technical breeder of him he still feels like one of 'ours'
Another one of 'ours' (same situation as above, though I prepped him myself ) was a good horse from a few years ago you might remember, Firebreak? |

Yes I do follow racing! I like both the flat and the jumps. I am really looking forward to watching some of cheltenham on the tv this week. I wish I could go there the atmosphere must be great. Must try and get up to date with some form! I don't bet much but I will have a bit of a flutter next week!
Lucky you being able to breed racehorses! x |

Posted - 09 Mar 2010 : 1:09:23 PM Thank you for your lovely comments about the mare and foal. That mare is my OH's favourite, he combs her mane out each evening and even feeds her biscuits! Thats almost unheard of,
I haven't seen the foal for 3 weeks as she is in Ireland with her mum, but I spoke to the stud yesterday and they like her. They said she was a bonny foal and what a lovely personality
Unfortunately the mare was scanned empty yesterday so she will be re-covered the end of this week.
Here are some pics taken the day she went to Ireland
Delyth, I looked for your mare No Fishing but couldn't find any records of her. |

Posted - 09 Mar 2010 : 08:58:19 AM Only just caught this thread - I love your mare !! When I see thoroughbred mares it always makes me want one again. We acquired one as a companion many, many years ago. She was such a classy looking animal. I knew little about her, her registered name was No Fishing !! She had no stable name and I was struggling to think of anything off her 'proper' name although my Dad called her Trout !! She ended up being called Lola......whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.........after the song !! |

Posted - 27 Jan 2010 : 4:58:28 PM Thanks for your lovely comments. She is very sweet. Her head is so small we don't have a headcollar on the stud to fit her! I think I will have to find a pony foal one.
She has been colicky on and off and I will be happier once she is more comfortable
Hoping to get her out a bit tomorrow and will take some more pics. She has been cantering around the barn and even bucking, all without falling over! Very balanced for a newborn |
