Posted - 14 May 2013 : 9:32:15 PM Do you have her book "Rearing a foal"? There is a photo of Metima in it, as well as 2 other yearlings by Kismet. |

Posted - 14 May 2013 : 7:23:02 PM I know exactly what you mean, so much of what she taught me has stayed with me over the years, and not just about horses, I've yet to meet anyone who can clean brass to her standards!

Posted - 13 May 2013 : 11:10:10 PM I remember them both. Gage D'Amour was 3 or 4, Metima was a very pretty yearling. Her dam Golden Image was still there then.
I only found out the other day that Mrs. Howell passed away last December aged 91. We didn't really get on but she taught me so much although I was only there for just over 6 months. 43 years later, I still muck out the way she taught!! |

Posted - 13 May 2013 : 10:35:39 PM You were 10 years ahead of me Diana, I was at Kingsettle July 1980 - Feb 1982. Didn't know Kismet but we had two of his daughters, Metima & Gage D'Amour, both lovely mares. They were probably youngsters when you were there. |

Posted - 13 May 2013 : 6:20:58 PM He would have been 25 when I was at Kingsettle. I didn't realise he was that old until I looked at his pedigree!
A glorious liver chestnut, he was one of the most beautifully proportioned horses I have ever seen. |
